I agree with Rowanbuds.... I have a 2007 G35X, getting about the same mileage he/she quoted. You won't regret getting the 08. Don't forget the basics here: It's a great car and with that pricing, you can't go wrong. Like all "new" things - the novelty does wear off; you would be kicking yourself in your "air conditioned" Pants, if you jumped into the 09 at top dollar intro pricing only to find a drop in the lease price a few months later. If the 7 AT gears equates to big differences in MPG (15-20%) THEN it would be a consideration to examine. Afterall, Gas prices aren't Going Down. We'll be seeing $5 gallon in a very short time. But this car is not purchased for its mileage rating is it?

No its not, but don't count on 15-20% more mileage. The 7 speed would have closer ratios and maybe 1-2 more mpg at best.
Well I went ahead and got the 08. I ended up leasing an 08 Journey with NAV, Premuim, Sport, and Tech packages. I didn't want the Tech package but they had the exact car I wanted with it.
I finally decided that it was the right time and I really don't think the lease numbers will ever be this good.
I felt like I got an OK deal. However, I had made some mistakes on my original lease that ended up costing me on this lease. First I got 15K miles on my first lease. I am 16K under my mileage so that money was just wasted and it really didn't help me much in negotiations.
The other thing was that I did a 39 month lease before. I had two payments left so that ended up being a disadvantage for me. I had to pay those payments to get out of the lease.
Anyway I learned my lesson. I did 36 months @.0015 money factor and 61% Residual, with 12K miles, and no money down at all. My payment is $532 per month because I ended up rolling in the two payments from my other car.
I was hoping for a lot less than $500 per month but the extra tech package added a significant amount as well as the two payments.
In the end I am very pleased with the deal because I felt the money factor and residual were great. Heck an almost fully loaded G35 for $530 a month is not bad right?

dude, just buy the car if you like it and if you are able to afford it. if not, then don't buy it because i think everyone here can attest since none of us own '09 G37 sedans, that we LOVE this car...it doesn't matter if it has a 3speed AT or a 4.6 liter engine, i love this car and so will you

That's a pretty sweet deal regardless of what you rolled into the deal. Nice work. I personally am waiting on the 2009 news. I always want the latest and greatest and would deff. kick myself if some big change I wanted came out (engine, gears, wheels, interior/exterior combo's...Come on peanut butter leather). If the '09 announcement surfaces and the changes are minimal, I still think you will be able to steal the left over '08's if you are flexible on options, colors, etc...

I don't think you got a smoking deal..though as long as you are happy with your payment, that's all it matters. Be interested in that Tech package..didn't opt that because it didn't seem to be a good value.
For me, Leasing only 2 years is the way to go..why? Hate to be stuck with extraneous maintainence (sp?) cost. Buddy did the 3 year deal on his Z...cost $1400 on brakes and tires 2 months before turning it in...that's a rip.
under 30k miles...things just work better...just need to buy tires.
Just my thought.

I was simply stating the obvious, no worries and no it did not make my day.Quote:

Yea the deal wasn’t as great as it could have been because turning in the 05 turned out to be too much of a liability. However, the actual lease numbers were very good(.0015 and 61% residual are the best I have ever seen without a security deposit).Originally Posted by foiegras900ss

Also, my 05 had 29700 miles on it and it was do for the 30,000 mile check-up(Big Bucks), the brakes had less than 5% wear left(another big cost), and it needed a few other things not covered under warranty. So turning it in this month probably saved me $800 over keeping it another 2 months. That did factor in heavily in my decision.
Anyway, I am totally pleased with the car itself. I no longer feel that I will be disappointed if the G37 sedan comes out. I love the 3.5 liter engine in the 08. It has plenty of power and it does not have the jerkiness of every 07 I have driven.
Can I just say that I think the following things absolutely rock about this car!
1. IPOD integration is the single greatest invention ever. I am totally addicted to my IPOD and I can’t believe I lived with the crappy radio transmitter for the last 2+ years.
2. Blutooth is the second coolest invention ever. How great is it to be able to use the phone hands free after fumbling around with it for so long.
3. The back-up camera is great. I showed it to my 4 year old son and he said “Dad can I try the back-up video game”.
4. The navigation is pretty good as well. I haven’t messed with it much but I do like it a lot.
5. I hate to admit it but I am finally going to praise Bose for making a great sound system. I really think it sounds quite good for a stock car sound system. It costs way more than it should but they did put together a decent system this time.
6. I just think the silver exterior with the stone interior looks great but maybe that is just me.
I am definitely pleased with the purchase and I have no regrets. Thanks, for all your help on this decision. I really feel that if I had waited for the 09 then I would have regretted not pulling the trigger.

mpggxsvcd, did you have to put anything down at the $532/mo payment? what was your initial payment if you don't mind me asking. it's crazy seeing the current lease deals, you beat mine by a mile and i got vpp pricing - although it was 4-5 months after the 07 came out (when it was H-O-T).
Quote:
It was Zero dollars down. First months payment upfront, sign, and drive. Then 35 additional payments to complete the lease. I basically rolled $920 into the new lease from the old lease. That was what drove the monthly payment above $500. They gave me a check to pay for the $920. However, they tacked on $920 to the selling price so they really were not giving me anything there.Originally Posted by whtbst

The deal ended up being about $600 over invoice when you remove the $920 I rolled in. If I didn't have to roll that in then I could have gotten them down to $500 over invoice or less. Anyway, it wasn't an outstanding deal but it was good enough. I am comfortable with the $532 payment. That is reasonable on a $40K+ car.
I think I stated the residual wrong before. It was actually 60% instead of 61%. All of the lease deals that Tarry from leasecompare.com posted said +2% to go from 15K to 12K. However, they showed me the "Official"(or so they said) Infiniti program guide and it only said +1% for 12K. Anyway, 60% is still one of the best residuals on any car on the road today. The 3 series is down to 57% which is not great considering its $48K+ sticker.
I will take +3% residual and -$8K price anyday. Even if the more expensive car is supposed to be "The ultimate Driving machine"!

It looks like the dealer actually used 59% instead of a 60% residual. Does anyone know what the correct residual is this month for 12K miles per year and a 36 month lease? I have to go back and get them to redo the lease now with the correct residual.
It turns out that the MSRP was a lot lower than I thought. It was 40,475 instead of 41,115! Is that correct? The MSRP went up almost $700 last month?
