I keep getting this waring message that comes up everytime I turn on my car. I think its trying to tell me that my gas tank is open but it is not. It goes away after about 20 seconds. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

This is an extremely wild guess but you may have a defective gas cap that is failing a pressure test. This happened to me one time on my Explorer. I kept getting these OBD II codes related to a massive pressure leak in fuel system and it turned out to be the fuel cap.

I had the gas cap on my G replaced beacuse it wasn't sealing properly, although I didn't get warning message you describe. I got a CEL instead.Originally Posted by nissan4ever

Problem solved under warranty.

They told me when I bought the car that this occurs from time to time. They said usually it is fixed by making sure the cap clicks twice when you shut it. Probably doesn't help at all ... but worth a try!
