OMG GREASE YER MUFFLEER BEARINGS *titter*
if the motor is going to eat oil, it's going to eat oil. it won't have much to do with how hard you were on the car during break-in unless you really are hard on it. if you're worried about hitting 5 and 6k rpm right now, then you probably don't know how to be hard on the car, so relax. have some fun! it sound pretty good wide open once you get north of 5k rpm.

you are going to be fine. I bought my 08 g35 about 2 months ago and didnt even think about break in period until a week of driving it (pretty hard at times). so i was a nervous wreck thinking i ruined it but after 2000 miles, everything is running smooth, no probs. The break in paranoia is worst than anything you can do to it im sure.
this is going to make you feel about a thousand times better.
The first day I purchased the car, I drove all the way down to my dad's house to show him the car. He was like, "Let me drive it." ...of course I had to oblige, he's my father, I love the guy.
First thing he does is take it to the highway, (I have 100 miles on the car), and he just floors it to a 100MPH Haha. The hair on my back stood up, and I was like nooooo you idiot inside my head. But the car is still running GREAT at 16k miles. You should be okay man

ahhh the evil break in period!
i think i hit 110 on the 3rd day of having my car...
i think my car adapted to my insane driving and now is actually faster...
i dont recommend you floor it "all the time" but once in a while should be okay during the break in period...
anything just add a TT kit and you should be good as new

If you do it once, it sends a signal to the ECM saying you went above 4000 RPM before reaching 3000 miles.
Do it again, the ECM will start a bomb in your gas tank and won't allow you to go below 4000 RPM or else it'll explode.
If it makes you feel any better, I think Infiniti is stupid (or any manufacturer for that matter) to think that a car with a drive sport mode and 300+ HP won't be redlined the day I drive it off the lot.
Besides, break-in procedures are weird. I've read some manuals saying that the engine should experience all RPM's within the RPM band while break in to ensure proper break in.
You've nothing to worry about...other than the bomb thing of course.
