I've had a rattle for a while now coming from somewhere near the instrument panel, which has now gotten worse. After two days at the dealership they said they couldn't isolate the source of the rattle and are going to replace the entire steering column. Hope it's better!

i am hearing the same rattling within my instrument panel/steering column area. I wonder if they'll do the same. I'm going in for my 15k service tomorrow and I'm going to ask them about it. I'm also going to ask them to replace the passenger seat belt. I remember hearing on this forum that the spring inside the passenger seat belt causes a rattle....hopefully this will be the last of the rattles.

Yeah, I'm having the same rattle in both places you described. The car is an absolute blast besides for the brake problems I am having and the little vibrations so early on in the car's life.

oh wow...i had that too guys...i got mine fixed at the dealer about 3 months ago about that rattling sound....i had no frreakin idea what they were talkin about when they told me what the problem was but they said somethin with a heater box and somethin fell into it....and it was make this really nasty clicking sound when i accelerated

I had this same problem. I had this clicking sound behind the instrument cluster everytime I accelerated or even hit the gas while at a standstill. The dealership and I thought it was a faulty instrument cluster so they replaced that. But the day after I got my car back it happened again. I was upset and thought maybe they didn't really replace the cluster. Finally they were able to diagose the problem to be the heater core. Got it fixed and that was the last of that problem. Apparently there are beads in the heatercore that can come loose thus making noises upon acceleration because we all know coolant runs through the heater.

Mine is actually a different rattle than the one you guys are describing. It has nothing to do with acceleration - just a little ticking rattle when the road isn't absolutely smooth.

u could never know it might be the same thing cuz the dealer said somethin fell into my heater box....but they had to replace some big piece tho...im not really sure what it was...i totally forgot...i wish i payed attention when they told me instead of talkin on the phone lol

Basically, some pieces of silicone come loose and get caught in the heater core. All they have to do is flush and fill the cooling system to get the silicone pieces out, but it takes a while for them to be able to safely flush and fill the system due to the heat.

They did that last time and it didn't make a difference.

I think my daughter had the same problem. It took Sewell in Dallas 2 months and tearing her car apart before an engineer came from Infiniti and diagnosed the problem. I have the same car (07' G35 Sport) and haven't had the problem. I think I drive a little easier than she does though. Her car seems fine now and its been 3months since they fixed the rattle.

So the steering column is on back order and won't be in for a couple of weeks. They offered to bring my car back to my house and come back and pick it up when the part gets in.
