+1 Exactly what I was trying to get at, breakin is at around 1900kms if you'e basing it on the 1,200miles, so go beat it. (Thats for those who believe in a breakin period anyway)

Breaking in a modern car/engine is one of the biggest myths going. Has anyone ever heard of a car having problems, performing poorly or anything else because it was not broken in properly? I have not "broken" in a new car in 10 years, and that covers 5 different cars, and have never had an issue.

Some arguments hold that if you "baby" the car in the first 100 miles, the valves never seat properly so the car will never perform optimally.

I wonder why all manufacturers recommend it then?

Surely they can't be mitigating their risk of component failure, therefore mitigating their warranty repair costs...

Surely car makers aren't that smart, and don't pour billions of dollars into R&D with their primary focus being cost-reduction and increased profiability...

Then how do u explain why your new G gets better mpg until about 15k miles before leveling off?

I'm only 17 and was 16 at the time and don't have the need for speed anyways so I thought why not + saving gas

Unless your car had 0 miles on it when you got it...... everyone else did the "breaking in" at full throttle for you. I guarantee that.

Probably just a coincidence. FWIW, A/C shuts off at full throttle.

Cuz they don't deal with warranty issues and all about the $$$$.

YES to the 1000%! I'm so happy and glad i broke my engine right. Now the engine is so smooth and strong!

BTW i drove my friend's 06' M3 when i first got my car, man the m3 felt like a rocket! so fast so much torque. Feels like it will CREAM my car like a joke, my G35 felt about 40-50%ish compare to M3 hard to put into words... But after 6 months and 10K my engine has became very very buff! I feel like my car is about 90 to 95% comparable to his engine now. I feel I can DEFINATELY give his M3 a good run(1/4 mile), maybe even beat it, heh!

I am getting roughly 20 MPG, and have basically gotten that ( minus 1-2 MPG in winter for crapahol) since I got the car, not much better, with exception of long trips and not much worse. Could I do better babying the car in general, sure, does "break in" have anything to do with it, nah. BTW I have about 12,000 miles or so on mine.
