G35S vs G35xS Questions...

Hi Everyone -

I am in the process of picking up 2 new Infiniti's at the moment, a QX56 for my wife and a G35 sedan for myself. Originally, I was leaning toward the G37 coupe, but the rear wheel drive is not conducive to winters here in Chicago and the car is probably not that practical for transporting 4 people from time to time. I love the new G35 sedan as well, so this seems like a perfect choice.

While I love the G35S, it would make sense for me to consider the all wheel drive capability of the X. I was hoping some of you might be able to offer some insight in the pros and cons of going with one over the other.

- Is there a drop off in performance between the 35S and the 35xS due to the displacement of horsepower across all four wheels? I have not seen any performance comparison of the two.

- Does the 35xS come with Brembos like the 35S?

- I believe there is a significant different in the size of the lip possible on the rear wheels of the 35S versus the 35xS. How big of a difference is there?

Thanks for the feedback on these questions and any other info you might be able to provide. Looking forward to getting my black 08 in the next few weeks.

The drop off in performance won't really be noticable, biggest drawbacks are added weight, more expensive, and poorer fuel economy.

Neither the xS or S come with Brembos. Although I think only the S has the bigger brakes, don't quote me on that though. Also, the xS does not have a limited slip differential.

Not so sure about the rims.

I hear Chicago does a pretty decent job of plowing streets whenever it snows, so you may be just fine in a S if you swap out the summer tires for all seasons as soon as winter rolls around.

Thanks Fecurtis! Now that you mention it, I do think I remember there are no Brembos on these (although I did see a review in which the brakes one both the "S" sedan and the G37 were highly regarded).

I agree about the winters and the ability to get by with snow tires if necessary. I didn't even think about the difference in gas mileage between the S and the xS. I may just drive them both, park them side by side at the dealership, and make an impromptu decision.

The S has slightly larger brakes, wider wheels in the back, and upgraded suspension.

The xS is just an X with the front lip, 18" wheels, Sport Seats, and Paddle shifters

Only If you plan to Mod!! Get the G35S not X. it's too complicated with an X

They required alot of things.I..myself w/08 G35X trying to get all the power

out of 306HP. I will go for Impul ECU soon.

Thanks alot everyone. I do appreciate the feedback. I am leaning heavily toward just getting the S, but I know in the winter I will be saying that I wish I got the xS.

Now I just need to start looking for some nice aftermarket rims with a nice lip for a reasonable price.

I went through what ur going through now. I live in NH where there is a lot of snow. I came from a Honda civic that was OK in the snow with all season tires and front wheel drive. I got the S, put some good snow tires on it, and its better them my Honda was. I do not regret getting the S. it gets me where ever I need to go in the winter.

Not necessarily!

It's all about having quality winter tires. I run WS50 Blizzaks on my G35S and have had zero issues, even in deep snow.

Garnet - That scene looks all too familiar - except my driveway doesn't have that sweet *** sedan sitting in it....yet.

S it is boys! I will have a set of aftermarket rims with performance tires and the stock rims with snow tires. I love it when I finally get decisive!!!

use up the summer tires that come one it first. they are only good for like 10-15k and they are hard to sell used because of the weird front size.
