Curb Weight is the weight of car with no driver or passengers, but with a full tank of fuel and all other fluids. Optional equipment is not always included, so most cars and trucks on the road weigh more than the manufacturer's published curb weight.

Gross Weight is the loaded weight, as driven. GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) is the maximum GVW at which the vehicle can be safely operated. This figure is usually found on a plate near the door jamb or in the owner's manual.

The difference between gross weight and curb weight is the total passenger and cargo weight capacity of the vehicle.
^^^That make sense.

So you're right that curb weight is a car with all fluids but with no passengers or cargo.

Hold on here. Don't you guys think 3,500lbs car is considered a light car to drive around? A normal weight car is from 3,000lbs to 3,300lbs. Below 3,000lbs is considered light weight and anything more than 3,300lbs is considered heavy. Don't you guys know that Mercedes SL65 V12 twin turbo lost to Z06 Corvette in 1/4 mile run because the SL65 is heavy as **** with 1,500lbs more than the Vette even though it has 100hp more than the Vette?
Increasing hp is not enough, lighten the car with more hp is the best solution for both daily drive and racing. So any smart guys here want to tell me the weight loss plan for G35 ?

Gross is the maximum weight the car is to carry including contents (people, fuel, luggage, etc.).

Curb is the weight of the car dry.

edit, 3rd page, already answered ,doh!

strip it clean. inside and use it as a rolling cage. carbon fiber all body panel? other then that you are talking some serious money like replacing the engine and frame.

Yeah there's hardly any sound-deadening material in the G that can be removed to reduce weight. They've already made the Sedan frame aluminum. Saves a lot of weight, but it will crumple like whoa in any accident.

That being said, I'd prefer turn signals integrated in the side mirrors than a sidemarker on the fender.

Damn....Wow us B13/B14 SR20 guys are fussing about EG and EK hatches (2000-2100lbs) being "lightweights" but I guess Im a lightweight too, my Turbo SE-R weighs about 2500lbs. lol

I think it's hard to add any "stick on" external mods without making the car look cheap. This includes fake hood scoops and side scoops IMO. Same goes for those three fake holes that people put on the side of Chryslers to mimic Buicks.

That's why when i do mods, they are proressional and don't inlude ANYTHING stick on or the such.

If I do this mod, along with some custom lighting, it will not be cheap crap. For the fender vents i will purchase the entire two body panels, then have them cut and fabricated and painted...then installed.

As with all of my customs in the past...it has to look factory or better. Or I wont do it.

Just my .02.

I'm actually surprised by this comment. I thought infiniti did well when they excluded the side marker and instead put a reflector inside our headlight that we can take out easily. Side markers don't belong on cars IMO, that's why with the bimmer community, they have side marker deletes where you can replace it with a cover that matches the paint.

as for the fender vents...............no comment

The only thing about side markers is, from the NHTSA:

Side marker lamps annually prevent 106,000 accidents, 93,000 nonfatal injuries and $347 million in property damage.

The lamps have not been effective In reducing fatalities

They add $21 to the lifetime cost of owning and operating motor vehicle.

Just some stats...

I don't think side vents go well with any cars that are meant to look more curvey then boxy. Dodge's look great with them, especially the chargers because those cars are meant to look more like a boxy sports car then something curvy and rounder.

Infiniti tried doing this on the new FX and I think everyone agrees that it just looks ugly. I say if you can make one that compliments the curves of the g35, something more discrete then what you showed there in the photoshop then go for it otherwise it will look out of place imo.

interesting statistics...I didn't know side marker lamps helped so much...I still think they make the car look less pure but if they help that much then i'm all for em
