True fog lights...

Hey...has anyone installed a true fog light into the lower valance?

I'm exploring the difference between LED strips and just a really cool fog light.

I'm not a big fan of the ones in the upper housing.

Pics if you have would help.

thanks

Until you just posted, I didn't even realize we had fog lights.

With the HID's, are they necessary?

Sounds like more of a cosmetic mod.

Fog lights are NOT so YOU CAN SEE, it's so OTHERS CAN SEE YOU.

In a foggy condition, with HID lighting, the white light reflects back to you when it hit the fog (thats why on a rainy day, you can see vapor rising with your HID, you won't be able to see far distance). But yellow light, it doesn't reflect back as much, so, you can see farther distance foggy condition with yellow light. Correct me if Im wrong.

I have yellow fogs in my car, (Lexus) and I think they work great in the fog.

Especially, since they are mounted low and can be turned on independently of the low beams.

The headlamps have that covered. In most cars, fog lights do make a noticable difference...just not in the G.

pfft, they did in mine. going from a halogen up to a 3000k hid kit in the fogs absolutely lit up the road from 3ft in front all the way up to about 15 yards.

after that my 6000k's do a nice job of getting a clean reflection off of the lines and signs.

You are absolutely 100% correct. The human eye sees yellow the best. In some parts of Europe anything other than yellow fogs are illegal. Putting in HID's for fog lights or PIAA blue tinted bulbs may look good and at least the HID's will work great under normal conditions, but they are horrible for the fog. The human eye has alot of trouble seeing the color blue. Take a look at the blue colored xmas lights and you will see what I am talking about. It's very difficult to see each of the blue xmas bulbs at a distance while yellow is very easy to spot.

I changed the fog light to 3000K HID.
It works well on the fog.

Below are some pics.

Again...the only reason i'm going to put projector fogs in the lower valance of the front bumper is for aesthetic reasons. I have always liked the look. It's foggy in LA about 1 day year, if that.

The pics are nice, tho.

I want kind of what lionelk did...but on our body style and was looking for pics.
