Are these quotes for the 30,0000 Premium maintenance schedule???

 

I would imagine that's the premium price. I've only done premium on my car up to now. What's everyone's thoughts on this? Needed or overkill? Sometimes I wonder because most of the items are inspection as opposed to actually doing anything and so going Schedule A or B doesn't look like you lose that much.

 

I think its a big rip off IMO...albeit I'm no auto expert.

i.e...why replace the belts at 30,000 if they show no signs of cracking or damage??? or why would u replace the radiator cap at 30,000 if there's no problem with it??

sounds like a money maker for Infiniti..

Well on the belts, you may not see the wear, fatigue or the small amount it has stretched. I have been both in cars that have had a timing belt go as well as a sepentine belt when one of the tensional pulley bearings seized up. Not fun, and luckily in both cases not a lot of damage other than the belts.

Then again, why not re-use a condom. I am sure for most people it works fine the second time around.

Radiator cap? O.k... That is a little ridiculous, but belts generally have a schedule for a reason.

i was quoted 799!!! and 549 when taking out the worthless stuff... uhhh all the fluids and flushes really.

 

i have seen back brakes go on all models of infinitis before the fronts and vise versa. roughtly 28k-35k in my area where i work.

Radiator cap is actually a good thing to replace every 30k, its not a money maker for infiniti its an actual preventive matience item. if you look at the cap look at the rubber seal not at the spring thats what goes bad in nissan/infiniti's caps. theres actually a tsb on it for all infiniti vehicles if you don't believe me.

Belts in my area i see go around time not mileage. i didn't read what type of car the op had but if its a nissan/infiniti with an auto tensioner for the belts there is a built in strech gauge to all of those types. If they are cracked or streched i recommend replacement.

For the breakdown of fluids and extra's heres what we recommened here in our area.

Every 15k: Power steering flush, Fuel Induction Flush, Micro Filter
Every 30k: Brake Flush, Coolant Flush, Diff service, Manual Trans Service
Every 60k: Transmission Flush be it matic J or matic D

How you mantain these cars really shows over 100k. Thats my .02

 

@ $850 in the Northern VA for this service. I'm closing in on 30,000 miles and have just started shopping around. Its pretty consistent. I'd hoped to find a Nissan dealer or even another shop (Midas etc) that does factory services but at this point I'm probably stuck in this price range.

 

1. Looking thru the service manual, there is no recommended replacement of the coolant or automatic transmission fluid, for Schedule 1 or 2. Is this correct or did I miss it?

2. Under the premium maintenance, it calls out "differential oil" replacement every 30K miles. Do we even have differential oil, I thought it only applied to AWD/4WD cars?

Personally I think the prices people have been quoted by dealers is a total ripoff. Normal everyday driving would mean going with Schedule 1 or 2. Replacing the air filter is super easy-to-do-yourself. I'm not sure about the cabin micro since I haven't done it on this car, but you just need to get access to it. Sport owners can't even rotate their tires. That basically leaves the oil/oil filter change and the inspections.

 

Keep in mind that you do not need everything on the list. I excluded the wipers, as I take care of this myself; save you a few bucks. Either way, I spent a little over $500. Double check to see if they are including the optional Automatic Transmission Flush (ATF). You can wait until your 33,750 maintenance. That could be what's pushing folks closer to mid-to-high $600.

 

Do yourself a favor and just have the oil changed. The rest is a wasteful ripoff.
