If you are not afraid to get slightly dirty, the reqd procedures are not difficult.

6 qts Castrol 0W30 German Syntec- $35 (Dino oil $15)
Mobil 1 filter - $10
Crush washer for pan drain - $1
Air filters - $24/pr
Cabin air filter - $30, or the "maintenance free" option of removing for good (dont need this anyway)
Check pads, tie rod ends etc. when switching to snow tires and back again.

+2 hrs of my time
$90 and savings of 1 to 2 hrs of hassle @ dealership, save $10 gas there and back.

Also changed MT and rear diff oil w/ Amsoil for about $60 but not reqd by Manual @30k. Dont forget to pick up crush washers.

Tools needed - Philips head screwdriver, filter wrench, crescent wrench, a few metric sockets, a few boards to drive car onto, one 6 pack of favorite bevvys.

w/ money saved Im almost 1/2 way to my next set of tires

$495 sounds very fair. I was quoted $795 by one dealer. Rear brakes worn at 30,000 miles? Do you somehow spin out 180 degrees and apply some kind of secondary brake system that does 70% of your braking in the rear, lol? That sounds like BS to me.

Not really. If you take it to the track you end up using your rear brake more. Also the VDC does use you rear brake a lot to correct your driving. Most of the time when the VDC slip flashes on your dash it is applying brake somewhere.

I was just quoted $1180 for 30k premium service. Somehow I'm thinking I was misquoted but time to shop around anyhow.

I drive roughly 8K to 10K per year. So here's what I plan my maintenance schedule to be for my 2008 G35X Sport:

Every 7500 miles or 6 months, which ever comes first
1) Oil change by myself, normally May/Nov. I'm in NJ so I don't want to change oil in the middle of Feb. Presently using M1 5w-30. I plan on using GC from here on in.

Every 3 years:
1) Front/rear diff gear oil change with Amsoil gear oil (1st change at year 1)
2) Complete trans fluid replacement with Nissan fluid (1st change at year 1)
3) Transfer case fluid change with Nissan fluid (1st change at year 1)
4) Brake fluid flush with Nissan fluid
5) Coolant change with Nissan fluid
6) Air filter
7) Cabin air filter
8) Power steering fluid change with Nissan fluid

Replacing the drive belts every 2 years is outrageous, per the "Premium Maintenance". That will be done every 4 years by the dealer...

I got quoted at $769 in San Jose, CA. What bull! It is for premium service. I checked Nissan and they quoted $639. What gives? I always do my own oil changes with Mobil 1 and I have done differential oil change on my 4wd Tundra myself. All we need is schedule 2.

This is what I dont understand - doesnt Nissan essentially do the same exact service? And most of the Infiniti dealers I know have Nissan dealers right next door.

I'm due up for mine at the end of the month. I just replaced the in cabin air filter for $15 and @ 20 minutes of time so hopefully that will cut down on the cost.
