I myself drive very softly in the city and the best I can get is 19mpg. It is average for 3 full gas tanks. Now I doubt anybody can beat that. Show me some proofs other than just talk. BTW, the gauge on our car can only read to 25mpg not 30mpg. Also tell me how you can go pass 25mpg ?
My 08 AWD has about 5 different places I can read mileage. I'll take some pics of my history ~7-8 full tanks of 21-23mpg. On the large monitor, before you select "reset" or "view history" it displays realtime mpg and mpg average since last reset. BOTH read to 30mpg.

On the display between the steering wheel, the realtime reads to 60mph (I know, never really happen) and I have idea what the next screen will go to other than that I had 25.6mpg on my AWD after 165 miles.

What screen only goes to 25mpg? What year?

2008 G35 Journey Sedan no sunroof
Is the mpg number in the fuel economy menu of the nav/radio/climate screen the same as the number between the tach & speedometer? Looks to me like they're separate, and both have to be reset individually.

We're not just talking bout the instant reading, but the average as well.

I just traded my 2006 ML500 Mercedes in for the G35. The ML had a V8 and weighed a whole bunch more than the G and got nearly the same gas mileage on the same trips back and forth to work (60 highway/40 city)!

I have to say I'm a believer in the latest Mercedes 7 speed tranny and I think Infiniti needs to step up to at least a 6 or 7 speed auto very soon. I think even the bottom of the barrel C class now has a 7 speed.

However, I didn't lease the car for mpg and I'm having a blast in the new G. I think 20mpg is acceptable for me for the 2 year lease term.

I'm with you JayJay. Living in NYC makes it real tough to get toward 20 MPG. I average about 16.9 mixed city/ hwy. Last fill up in a week of insane city traffic I got 12.9. Yeah, I used to drive a cab in the city, so my habits are not the most economical. At $4.69 a gallon here in NYC I try to remind myself that the G is the best value in its class.

I did an experiment today in my 2nd gen sedan. Cruise control at 48mph for about 3 miles on flat road netted me 31mpg.

A/C was on low, but that really doesn't make much of a difference

I've reset mine rolling down a hill in neutral and the gauge read 97 mpg.

i average 17-22 mpg over a full tank. the best i have gotten was 24.1 mpg but that was over 300 miles on the highway with the cruise set at 67-68 mph. i will be taking a trip across the country (california to florida and back) this summer so i will see what i average having 99% of those miles being on the highway.

C'mon guys....you should all know better than to pay attention the the MPG reading on the dash - it's an estimate at best.

The only number that matters is the one you calculate yourself, using your re-fill receipts and your odometer. AFAIC, claims of 30+ mpg are nonsense, unless you're driving downhill all the time.
