2007/2008 pre-owned question
Hey all, I'm in the market for a preowned g35 AT.
I've read the thread about the differences between the MY's, but still have a question about the sport package specifically.
I'm looking for a G35, AT, with Navi and Sport. All other options are secondary, I just want to get the best price for the options I'm looking for.
From what I've gathered from this forum, if I want the options mentioned in MY 2008, I'd have to look at a G35 Journey with the tech and sport packages. Since I haven't seen any preowned yet, it seems I'll be looking at new 2008's.
For 2007, what are my options? I'm assuming i could find a Journey with tech and sport as well. In reading this forum, it also seems that they made the a 2007 Sport with tech (no Journey). Is this accurate?
If my assumption for the MY 2007 is correct, how do I tell the two apart? I don't want to get swindled by some sales guy and would prefer to know what I'm talking about before going car shopping.
Also, regardless of MY, am I correct in assuming the easiest way to tell cars with sport apart is the presence of paddle shifters? Has anyone retrofitted a non-sport g35 with the paddles? I don't want to look for an identifier if it's something that can be added easily.
Last question relates to the moonroof. I read a while back that early 2007 moon roofs had bad seals and would leak in a car wash. Has this been addressed by a TSB?
Thanks in advance.

For '08, yep, it's Journey with Tech/Sport. Although i think you also need to get Premium/Nav in order to get Tech.
'07s have the backup camera included in the Tech/Nav package. For '08s, you don't need to get Tech. (It's part of the Nav.)
'07s did come in as Sport/AT and includes the Journey features. Journey packages included dual-zone climate control and a 6-disc changer.
Sport packages has a sport steering wheel, a limited slip (hard to tell just by eyeing it), paddle shifters (although this can be added after the fact) and sport seats with thigh extenders. The 18" wheel/tire combo can be had either in the Sport trims, or as part of the "Performance Wheel/Tire Package". The front bumper and side sills also looks different. If you get the Tech package, you'll also notice a small notch on the bumper, to the driver side of the lower fascia - this is the sensor for the Intelligent Cruise Control.
If it helps any, check with Carmax. Every now and then some great deals show up in their inventory, but they go quick.

I am curious as to what negative comments you have heard about the 4WAS.
Just my 2-cents worth.

ThiesG35s - your info is very helpful. was the price before ttl? what part of the country are you at?

Inside, the paddle shifters on an auto are a dead giveaway.
I bought my 07 almost a year ago with 25k miles on it for $26k even plus tax.
