Brand New for 30 days, now '08 G35x won't start. - Offical Results are in.

Well let me tell you, I must have the worst luck of all time. Hardly anything ever goes right.

I had a '05 G35x that I leased, I really like it, so I figured I would get another G35x. Got the 2008 G35x, drove it a month, put 500 miles on it, went to go to work monday morning and car wouldn't turn over. It just sat there, trying to turn over but nothing. Called roadside assistance, they came and towed the car to the dealer, and I am still waiting for it to get fixed.

They said they "think" it is the crankshaft sensor that went, but their guy that was working on it went to school for 2 days and won't be back until tomorrow. What this is the only guy that can put a sensor in???

Anyway I'm driving a '07 loaner that smell like cigerattes. I am not to thrilled about it. I didn't hear anything from the dealer today, so hopefully they will have it fixed. 4 days to fix a sensor seems a bit long, if that is what it really is.

Damn wrong place to post. See what I mean about my luck.

personally, if it's that new and only 500 miles, I'd lobby for a brand new car if the motor has to come out because of something catastrophic. talk about diminishing the value right off the bat. hopefully, it's minor

Well I am on another lease, so if they have to do anything major, the car will be turned in again at the end of the lease. They shouldn't have to pull the motor to change a sensor, but what do I know.

I have thoughts running through my head like, "I wonder if they can't find the problem, I'll ask for a new car, etc".

I'll have to call them today...

Got a call from the Dealer and he asked if I park it inside or outside. It is garaged. He said they thougth it got hit by lightening which was impossible. I drove the car late Friday night, it sat in the garage all day sat and sunday and monday morning it was dead. We did get some storms but everything in my house is fine and my wifes car is fine. they are going to replace the computer and the crankshaft sensor if needed. It should be done today, he thinks.

sorry to hear about the car...you should threaten to give them bad ratings on those surveys...my dealership goes nuts about some surveys

Hit by lightning? That's an odd thing to say. They must have found some pretty severe electrical problems. If they fix it, you should be fine though since it's a lease. It's not ike you've got a long term commitment to it. Things would be different if you were buying it I think, at least they would be for me. They'll need to keep it running because they're getting it back. Ultimately, any problems they don't resolve are theirs. I'd definitely ask them for a different loaner because of the cigarette smell.

Still no call back stating the car is finished.

I am hoping I don't have to put the smack down and call the manufacture or customer service. Everyone is telling me just to ask for a brand new car since mine died in 30 days. I don't know what kind of policy there is for stuff like this since I am sure it rarely happens.

There were no electrical problems that I could see. Everything worked on the interior, lights, dash, climate contol, audio, lights, door locks, etc. Car tried to start, just wouldn't turn over. The crankshaft sensor made sense to me, but now I am more concerned with them telling me they got other computer errors.

I called this morning and they said they got it started due to a defective negative battery cable. They said they were working on it and it should be ready today. My only concern now is I wonder how many pieces they tore it down to. If I hear one rattle, it is going back. Nothing pisses me off more than rattles or squeaks.

They told me that at 8:30am it is now 1:30pm and they didn't call back saying it was ready, which he said he would.

Battery current sensor result no good found component shorted internally causing the missing 5 volt ref signal.
Replace shorted battery current sensor and car starts and runs ok.

They ordered in about $3K of parts to try and it wound up being a $18 part.
