Is it common to scratch the shift ****??

Hey guys i was just wondering if it is common to scratch your shift ****? I just scratched it over the weekend and i am wondering if i should just buy a new one. Does anybody know how much it is going to cost if i buy it from the dealer, and if it easy to install?

It's easy for the dealer to scratch it... I know that!
I dropped the car off for maintenance and picked it up with a huge scratch on the aluminum section. I was p!ssed!!! They ended up ordering me a new one because "I was a good customer" but they never admitted fault.

My G is 17 months old and I have never once scratched the ****... not even slightly. I have no rings on my right hand, but I do handle the **** quite often, as I drive mostly in M mode and usually use the stick and not the paddles.

I say, order a new one.
If you are that concerned about scratches, order the M ****, as that one is leather and doesn't have the easy to scratch strip in the middle.

Mine has a scratch.

I've figured this about the G35 interior.... pretty but delicate.

Scratches on you ****....?

If you have scratches on your shift **** you probably have them on your
steering wheel. Not caused by rings buy by not keeping your finger nails
short enough. The smooth part of the ring is on the inside, so how could it
scratch anything? My wife's Vet has scratches everywhere, shift ****, steering wheel and her diamonds scratch the windows....looks like a cat fight
occurred inside her cars....Ouch!

Oh dear, where to begin with this line

Yes, mine is scratched to hell as well, I have a ring on my right hand and it gets a bit marked up.

But I have noticed the leather on the wheel is made of much tougher stuff than other cars with "leather wrapped steering wheels" My Matrix steering wheel looks like a horror show with scars all over the leather.

I carry a pocket knife in my right pocket and the pocket clip sometimes nicks the wheel getting in and out of the car, the G leather is good stuff!.

I got a few scratches on mine too...it seems that the aluminum is somewhat soft and scratches easily...so i don't think that getting another one will solve your problem since you will probably get the new one scratched as well. Installing the M **** might solve your problem...but I really like the G's a little better, IMO it integrates nicer with all the aluminum in the dash and door...but to each his own.
