Yeah I am wondering if the merger has anyhting to do with it. Because I know there are talks about doing a la carte packages where you can pick the channels you want and you will get both sirius and XM channels. Who knows I'll take the free service where I can get it whatever the reason, but I wont blantantly lie to get it for free. If they want to give it to me or they make a mistake I'll take it.

Search this forum. There are several threads about buying an aftermarket receiver.

Here is one of them.

I've been reading about the $77 XM renewal deal and coupons, etc. My trial subscription is about to expire on my 08 G35 sedan. How do I go about getting the $77 deal, especially since I have received mailings from XM specifying $130 plus for an annual subscription.

That doesn't always work.... tell them what you are going to pay and you will not get the deal. I've learned this the hard way.

Be nice when you call.
Say that you got a card in the mail stating $77 a year but misplaced it.
Done.
This works time and time again.

After my 3 months trial expired, I didn't bother to renew. I got a card in the mail a couple of months later saying hey, we want you back and it'll only be 77/yr. I did that and got the xm traffic along with it for 3/month more.

My 1 year came up, I called them up and told them I really didn't use XM radio enough to be worth the full price, and if they didn't continue my existing rate I'll cancel. Person on the phone asked me why I didn't think it was worth the full price and my response was that i just don't feel it's worth anymore than what I'm already paying. She said okay, and continued me for another year at 77 bucks.

Quite painless.

At this point, both Sirius and XM need subscribers more than their subscribers need them.

I'm not a big fan of XM radio but they gave me a 75% discount on a 5 month subscription. $20 for 5 months. not bad.

Don't know if this was new or BS but the sales guy just called me to offer me $4.99 per month. Not 3 months for $14.99. Not 1 year for $77. $4.99/mth which i could pay monthly, quarterly, annually, 2, and 5 years.

I declined but I thought I would pass it along for you guys to use as ammo.

My trial just ended after exactly 3 months, but I didn't get anything in the mail or a call. It still plays channel 130 (prez race), the emergency broadcast channel, a preview channel, and channel 3 which tells you over and over to call to renew.

But I'm in no hurry since my favorite channel (80) has been off the air for about a month.

I bought my G35 exactly three weeks ago and got my first XM letter in the mail today. They want $39 for just three months of radio, $51 with traffic. It's not worth it to me, but I'd go for some of the deals mentioned above.

I bought my mom a car about half a year ago and she let the XM expire and within a couple of weeks she got the $14.99 for three months offer, but she didn't even go for that.
