I need a new Transmission pan for my 07

I was getting the radiator flushed, and they pointed out the the pan got hit. Its in really bad shape. Looks like the old owner either ran over a huge boulder, or hit a cement block in the parking lot.

Do you guys know a good place to find one online? The dealer wanted $$$.

Thanks

^ hes actually right as i have seen a few totalled sedans pics around, and now that i think of it go on ebay there is one seller who is parting out the sedan parts. Just search for 07 g35 then just find ANY piece and then email the seller about the part you want and he'll let you know, thats how i got a few parts even though they were not listed

Call H K Auto Salvage in Montebello. They have an 08 with a blown motor you should be able to get the pan from.

So its been at the dealer all day, and look what they emailed me. I couldnt stop laughing in frustration Here is the email I got from them:

"Items that are not warrantable:

1.) Slipping between 2nd & 3rd gears/dented oil pan: believes damage to transmission electronic valve body assembly, trans oil pan un-repairable. Possible damage to transmission itself which is causing issue with slipping.

Replace entire transmission assembly complete with new trans fluid to guarantee no problems $7295."

LOL. There is no way the transmission is bad, its just the pan where the all the fluid sits is damaged. As far as I know there are no gears down in the pan. Am I right?

Ok considering that the stealership has already decided to rip you off, i would take the car to a REPUTABLE shop in your area and ask them to asses the damage so they can at least tell you if the VB is damaged or not, for free.

Then if its not just order the pan and put it on and take it to another dealer to get the gear slippage(i think theres a TSB) fixed, otherwise considerng your car drives fine i doubt any other damage(VB possible) but replacing the whole trasnmission is crazy. do post pics so we can help you better.

Yea the vb is right in the pan and hold the tcm in there also, if the pan hit it there is a possible chance it could have damaged it

Any chance this can be an insurance job? The VB alone is over a grand.

Ill take some pics when I get a chance

What is the valve body assembly?

Also when I got a loaner car, it was a 2007 G35 too, and I noticed that the shifting from 2nd to 3rd felt the same as it did on my car. Im used to driving a Lexus (for 3 years before my G35) and it shifted super smooth. Maybe I just have to get used to this one now.

My car drives fine guys, no fluid leaking or anything. The only reason I took it in there was to see what they would recommended. I personally think that when I replace the Tranny pan and fluids that everything will be OK. I called my local shop and they quoted me $200 for new pan, gasket and J fluid.

I think the dealer just wants $$$ and is hoping that ill give in. When I see adjective like "possible" and "believes" in an estimate, then I know that they dont know what they are talking about, and wanting to make a killing on a sucker. But they have the wrong sucker

the dealership doesn't cover slipping 2nd to 3rd gear? WTF? My tranny has noticably gotten more rough between 1st-3rd, i'd hate if my tranny is failing at 15k miles and they don't cover it. I got over 4 tranny's from acura ALL under warranty...

^The dealership will cover slipping of gears ion a regular circumstance however in this case they have avoided warrenty repair by stating that because the car has incurred damage on the tranny, the problem might not be the cars fault and could have been caused by the accident thus should be fixed by insurance or the person himself, and they are right to certain extent however trying to trick a person into spending 8 grand WITHOUT actually checking the real damage and just presuming is wrong
