Key fob and auto unlock

Hello, I'm new here and just got my 07 G35. Been lurking and enjoying the forum.

My question is will the car auto unlock if your near the door with the key fob in the pocket? Or, do I have to push the button on the door everytime?

Thanks

You have to push either the button on the door OR the key fob button.

Alright, thanks for all the input. I figure you still have to touch the handle to open the door anyways. I love the key fob and push button start.

I'm 90% sure there is an option in the setup to have it unlock automatically when you get in range of the door. When Riverside Infinitii (free plug) set up mine they recommended against it for security reasons but it was there. If I remember correctly you can either have it unlock just the driver's door or all four once you're within the 30" range of the door.

If that's true, I'd love to know how to do it.

I don't think so but please prove me wrong!
I've read the entire manual too (yes I have a boring life) and there is no mention of it.

It was during the initial setup of the car by my salesman. I don't know how he got to those settings though. If I remember correctly, he had to push some series of buttons like a code. I know there are some sales people who frequent the site (Jason@RiversideInfiniti?) who have to know how to access these settings since it's part of initial customer setup. I'll call my salesman and see if he can walk me through getting to those settings. He still owes me a follow-up walk through.

There is an option to choose how many doors unlock with the first push of the button. This is most likely what they were talking about over at Riverside. For security reasons, it's suggested to have only the driver's door unlock with the first button push and then all four with the second push.
There is no option to have the doors unlock when you walk close without touching the button.

correct, its in the settings menu,

also a side note, if ur on the drivers side, and ur gf is on the other side of the car, and you have the fob, only ur button on the door will work, her side won't..
the G knows what side ur on, same situation with the trunk.

So, even though she has the other key fob, her side of the door won't open if I'm at the driver side?

no no, what im saying is the button will only work on the side that the fob is on, if she has a fob then it will work, if she doesn't, then only ur side will work,

the G only activates the door button if the fob is with in ~3-5 feet of that button, not all buttons activate at the same time, they are independent of each other.

I'm almost positive it will never "auto-unlock" ... not sure why that would be practical. To open the door, one has to put their hand on the handle/button anyway.
