Which will be .......when? When does your dealership take first delivery? Or have they already taken delivery?

In my part of Midwest, G37 sedans will not be arriving until November. Infiniti is still pushing dealers to order additional 2008 G35s.

Pushing dealers to order 2008s? Are they joking?

Ordering ended in June. Manufacuring has already begun on 2009s so there's NO WAY they're going to change the line to remanufacture 2008s. It doesn't work that way. There's a reason they stop taking orders in June of 2008 for the 08s.

I didn't mean to imply that the 08s are still being manufactured. Just that Infiniti was asking some dealers to take on even more than had already been ordered.

OK, this blows, I was told by my dealer that mid October was the tentative new wholesale date and that my car would be available then. 3.5-4 month wait when it comes. Bummer. I was hoping to have it by the end of this month.

I don't know your situation exactly, but don't be surprised if you have to wait until November.

I ordered my car on July 3rd, and would not have waited until the '09 model year if my St. Louis dealer could have found me a 6MT in my specs. The ETA on the ordering system says 10/03/08, however the wholesale date is mid October, which means that I could be looking into a November arrival date. I really am pretty much bummed. The car was manufactured in August.

Man it's gotta hurt to be sitting on all that 2008 and 2009 inventory... (specifically delaying 2009's which they apparently intended on releasing within the next 2 weeks because there are more 2008's available than expected)

That's a fair amount of capital to be sitting on, collecting dust....

Infiniti is not going to get me to buy a 2008...

So I wait...

So they are delaying introduction of the 2009 because the 2008 is moving too slowly. And at the end of 2009 they'll still have the same problem with 2009 because they didn't start selling the 2009s early enough to get rid of the excess inventory then...

I'm calling big discounts on 2009 models by next September as well.

Well - they have plenty of time to adjust production to ease back if the economy effects car sales, which you'd have to think it will. (Even the luxury market will be affected)

It's quite natural for big discounts to happen late in the model year.

I don't however know how natural it is for a car maker to stall distribution of cars from the point of import, to allow prevent the "previous year" models from plummeting even further in value.
