History: Had Verizon E815 for years, never a bluetooth issue, connects INSTANTLY and always live update with antenna strength showing on Nav screen. Very good coverage for my area except at house, had to wait for a couple bars on nav screen before placing a call once leaving the house.

Issue: Iphone doesn't appear to have live update on antenna strength thru bluetooth. I can leave the house, no signal, drive around town, near towers all with no signal (phone on nav screen with line thru it).

AT&T is very sporadic in my area and you really almost NEED to know signal strength before placing/answering a call. I hate this to be the issue to return the phone but the issue is important enough for me as I'm not going to pull the phone in and out of my pocket to check signal strength before answering/making a call.

Also BIG lag before Iphone connects, I can be 1/4 mile down the road before its connected. Motorola was nearly instant, before I could even get the car into gear.

Comments or solutions from other Iphone or other users would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. Is yours 3G or non/3G, mine (had it only a few days) is a 3G, I wonder if there's a difference. I just talked to another non/3G (original) with a Toyota, he doesn't believe it live updates the antenna, he has to pull it out of his pocket to check true signal strength.

Update: Left the house, no service. Drove to a tower and parked the car, tried to make a phone call (Nav screen still has a phone with a line thru it for no signal), couldn't make a call, as soon as Ms infiniti reads back the number and I say dial, it goes right back to the radio.

I then pull the Iphone out of my pocket and turn it on, all systems go, full bars on phone and the Nav screen and I'm able to make calls again.

Is there something wrong with my Iphone or is this the way its designed? Trying to determine whether I exchange (still under two weeks) or if its by design and return it.


Please help!

 

my 2g iphone with OS ver 2.1 works normal. it also worked normal with the 2.0.1 and 1.1.4, .1.1.1 OS as well
all of my OS's were jail broken at some point and that didn't change any thing ether.

I'm having problems with my 3G iPhone too; not as bad as you describe, but it takes a long time to connect sometimes, and it shows incorrect battery charge. Plus the echo...

Finally had my first iPhone 3G replaced last week, this one is better but by no means perfect. My 2G worked fine...

 

I'll try for an exchange then and hope for the best.

Since I don't believe this to be an Infiniti issue (since the Motorola worked flawlessly), I'm pretty sure this is an Iphone issue, therefore should probably ask my question on a Iphone/Apple forum.

For you Iphone/Apples folks, as this is my first Apple product and not being familiar with any forums, could you kindly direct me to a popular site (as g35driver is to Infiniti) to maybe ask the question to a more appropriate audience.
