Gas Crisis

Well, I was under a 1/4 of a tank - and managed to find a BP that was selling regular @ $4.30 a galllon. The station limitted everyone's purchase to a max of $50, so I got about 11.6 gallons of 87 octane. I just read the headlines of USA Today on-line, and they're saying the shortage in Atlanta will probably last another 2 weeks.
Like Greg, I guess I'm going to find out how well "she" runs on regular!

I just bought some "104+ octane booster" made by HEET, guy at pep boys said it was flying off the shelf. There was another brand called 108+ which is for racing, so I'm glad guy at pep boys told me not to get that.
Anyone tried "104+ octane booster" yet?
Put 10 more gallons of 87 octane today and car is still running fine.

I looked into it pretty heavily. There don't seem to be any long-term effects from using one.

I found some discouragement for octane booster elsewhere, but it probably depends how they are formulated. The ones advertised for racing could be trouble.
from owner's manual:
INFINITI does not recommend the use of
any aftermarket fuel additives (Example:
fuel injector cleaner, octane booster, intake
valve deposit removers, etc.) which
are sold commercially. Many of these additives
intended for gum, varnish or deposit
removal may contain active solvent
or similar ingredients that can be harmful
to the fuel system and engine.

it's kinda funny if you think about the gas crisis mainly happening in the southeast...i'm not trying to say southeastern people are dumb or anything because I live here hhaaha...but southerners are known to be very "conservative"...being conservative leads to people filling up 5 gallon lawn mower tanks you can buy at the gas station in order to "stock up"....
it snows once a year in georgia, but whenever it does people freak out when they go to the grocery store and all the milk and bread is gone...this doesn't happen up north...when it snows, it snows and people go about their biz...same with the gas crisis, people fill up as needed...
i go to the gas today and i see this guy fill up his ford F250 which takes about a year...then he goes inside to buy 4 five gallon jugs, which he proceeds to fill every single one of them...this guy spent 225 dollars at the pump trying to hoard the gas...just imagine all the other GAS-HOARDING CONSERVATIVES doing the same thing as this guy...i wanted to kick this guy in the nuts and stone-cold stun him....

G35 manual says regular is fine with loss of power. G37 however says DO NOT use regualr and if you have to get premium in ASAP. Between gas issues here in ATL and economy dealers are hurting. I have been on the fence for weeks dealer and sales manager begging for a deal today (last of month) they bumped my trade back up $2K to where it was last month, before Acura slahed and rebated the TL to death, if I go now. Wonder what October will hold, I'm hoping for 0.9% again and $1K dealer cash, that may get me as I was stupid and missed it on Aug. 31.

People read your owner's manual ro download it and turn to page 9-4 of the Version 2 manula and it clearly states on the G35 engine regular is fine, no exceptions, no only for a short time, not one or 2 tanks and the check engine light may come on. It says you "MAY" notice a decrease in performance. The G37 engine however says only put a little regular in and put premium in as soon as possible and avoid abrot acceleration.
