bumper...

hey guys
i know this doesnt really relate to this section, but this seems like the only seection i'm really acquainted with and im really lost right now. Yesterday my dad was driving my car and he backed up into a pole. There's a huge dent and i'm pretty sure i'm gonna need a new bumper. I'm so depressed and pussed
does anyone have an idea of how much an 08 rear bumper might cost? and where would i be able to get 1? i'll post pics up to show the damage in a bit.

mine cost $1000, new, painted perfectly and installed by high end body shop. I think just the bumper is about $500, unprepped or painted.

Can't you pop that out since the bumpers are plastic? Not much paint damage from what I can see.

If you can pop it out as much as possible, I'd just save the 1000 and keep it since something might happen in the future.

Don't get "pussed"!

A) Why in the world wouldn't your dad just man up and pay for the damage he caused? I guarantee if my father loaned me his car, I'd be paying for MY mistake.

B) Yeah, it might pop out. Remove that thing and give it a good push. It looks like it may just pop back into shape and buff out.

My bump split open. It was a dead on hit right in the middle of my license plate. The thing just crushed in. There is freaking nothing behind that bumper cover it seems and the plastic just split right open.

Good luck with your repair. My advice is to find a great body shop, one where you routinely see Porsches, Ferraris and the like. You’ll learn that people with high-end cars won’t put up with less-that-professional repairs. This repair should be undetectable when finished and you may be surprised it really does not cost any more than an average body shop will charge. Average body shops bill the same hours of labor as great shops, but they cut corner and mask off trim rather than removing the part and doing it right.

The price of rear bumper cover is $339.39 (MSRP), but You can get it for $279.49 (plus $31 for shipping) at riverside infiniti site .

I replaced mine a couple month ago, and paid $800 including paint and installation.

As far as I see your picture, I would go to dent repair shop first and ask if they can fix it. If not, then you should replace it.

i told my dad i'd get it fixed...he basically got me the car i guess (put a 10k down payment)...as a gift i guess? i'm just payin the car off. so i guess i'll get the bumper fixed. I tried sticking my hand up there and pushing it, but theres no room for my hand to move. im clueless on how to actually take the bumper off.

Backup camera FTMFW!

That sucks, but it's repairable, so don't be "pussed".

By the way, nice gift.... does your Dad want any more kids?
I'm available!

call a dealer and see how much a factory painted bumper would be, the paint will be better then any after market shop, and you could bolt it on.
prob be 500, painted and clear coated to factory spec.

lol
thanks for the help, i appreciate it a lot. I was thinking of maybe just getting the dent out. What about paintless dent removal? Will they do it even thuogh i have some paint loss? I heard its a lot cheaper and efficient. And then i was thinkin of just trying to fix the paint with some touchup paint? i'm not sure lol

i'm really getting interested in a backup camera...but i dont have the nav package...would i still be able to get a cam?

One of my dad's friends does PDR work...he's always on the weather channel looking for hailstorms lol...but that is too big for PDR work...PDR is for small dents similar to what hail damage would cause to a car...you need a new bumper bro...if you lived in atlanta i might've been able to help you out...i got my rear spats painted and installed for $50
