“Dual” Climate Control...Really?

Despite having two ***** and two displays that show two different temperatures, there is nothing truly “dual” about the climate control in my 07 G35.

Even if I set extreme temperature differences (e.g., setting the driver to 72 and the passenger to 60), hardly any air is exits the vents—let alone air at two distinct temperatures.

Can anyone confirm if (1) the Gs just have poor “dual” climate control systems or (2) a dealer visit may be in order?

The center stack has been removed several times for navigation unit replacement (by the dealer). Perhaps some type of reprogramming needs to be performed?

Thanks much for your input.

LOL, I agree. You've got 99 cu ft of volume and a single sealed compartment. Other than the stream of air that hits you directly from a vent, the air mixes and according to the laws of thermodynamics energy will proceed to flow to equlibrium and pretty quickly be mono temp rather than dual temp. But I think some people can't handle a stream of cold air directly on them while others want the heat blasting in their face.

there is nothing abnormal about your car.

I agree.

I have a TSX as well as the G35s, and the dual systems are like
night and day. The G35s system is far inferior.

We took it back to the dealer to have them fix it.
They said that's how it is supposed to be.

Climate control sucks in the G compared to the Acura, just one
of those things really.

I find it works best in the AUTO mode, so try keeping it on that.

works just fine for me.... wife likes it a little warmer so when she gets in, she'll turn her side up several clicks maybe (72 / 76) and it takes the cool edge off the air for her. that's the intention. to expect any more than that is expecting too much. i can set it at like 68 / 78 and the 68 side will be considerably colder than the left side, which will be fairly warm; and yes, it's the air coming out. it's a little ridiculous to think there will be 2 separate climate areas in a single open cabin.

Yes, girls are ALWAYS cold for some reason so it helps to have a warmer current hit them. Works like it's supposed to I suppose.

Turn up the fan. I found that helps distinguish the difference and fixes the hardly any air from the vents issue.

It's not supposed to seperate the cabin into two zones. It's just to make the air that blows on your face lower/higher in temperature.

Exactly. This is especially true when it's hot outside (less so when it's cold outside). Because the cabin air temperature never really gets cool on a hot day when the sun is beating on the car. Just turn the A/C off for a few seconds during a hot summer day and tell me if the air in the car feels cool. So, the dual climate control is only for having two different temps for the air flowing out of the vents. Nothing more.

You need a 7 degree difference between the two to be able to really tell a difference, but it does work.
