Nope. Wasnt talking out my ***. Having driven a high number of gears in an auto trans, i can say based on my own experience the fun factor wasnt there as much as it was with cars ive driven with an auto with fewer gears. The 7 speed auto is only a means of increasing fuel economy and bringing the final drive ratio down way below 1:1. The engine isnt going to have uber amounts of more power nor will its rev limiter be much higher, if higher at all. All that does, for an automatic transmission is reduce the time the computer is going to allow each gear to remain in that gear within the rpm range. A 7 speed manual would be awesome. But a 7 speed auto is only there to appeal to the people bitching about gas mileage.

Opinions are like *******s....everybody has one haha. If you read, i said based on my "own" personal experience. You can stand by whatever you want. I can stand by what i say. This is a public forum and anybody has the right to their opinion, whether it be totally blasphomy or 100% factual information. If it makes you feel better to say that a person has no clue what they are talking about when they cleary state, "based on my own personal experience", then so be it. But editing a post and putting "blah blah blah" is just funny and rather childish haha

Yeah everyone has an opinion but they can't all be correct. The fact of the matter is if you put the gas pedal to the floor you will cross the mark before a G35 with automatic transmission.
I have to agree with everyone else that it is not worth trading their 07/08 for the new model, though if I was shopping for a completely new car I would wait for the G37.

PS The world is flat (just my opinion)

Not me. Now if it had a DSG gearbox then I would want one. I'll keep mine till the DSG makes it way to the G.

But if I didn't have an 08 and was looking to buy a G I would buy it.

If the 09 had the 08 wheels and cost the same price then it would be a no brainer. However, it comes with some of the worst wheels I have ever seen and it is at least $1200 more expensive.

Financially, the 09 just does not make sense over an 08. However, minus the wheels it is definitely a better car. Just not better enough to make it worth that much more.

I guess you can keep telling yourself when that 7AT G37 is running a 13.4-13.5@105mph to your 13.7-13.9@102mph. That's running away in my book. As for gear hunting, every article I've read says the tranny is always grabbing the right gear, at the right time.

Mercedes 7 speed gear hunts. The Jatco unit in the G37 does not.

I understand what people are saying. But i thank you for backing me up somewhat. Like i said, this is based on my own personal experience from the lexus and mercedes that i drove and both had an issue, at least with me, with gear hunting. I havent driven the new G37 sedan, so i never said i drove the G37 sedan and it gear hunted. Only based on other luxury cars that had a high number of gears in an auto tranny. Im sure once i get around to driving one i may change my mind.

I'm going to call BS again, the 06 GS430 I drive everyday does NOT hunt for gears.

This was an 08. Could have been a fluke.

I'm one of the few who have driven the 09, and I can say for a fact that it is faster than an 08 comparing apples to apples.
