You'll have to find out what invoice pricing is, and offer them something above that. You'll be hard pressed to get them to move an '09 at a decent deal, when they likely have a bunch of '08's sitting on the lot. I came away at $500 over invoice, however my deal was negotiated in July. This was obviously before the market really, really took a turd, and Infiniti was stuck with excess G inventory forcing them to push back the release date on the '09.

i had my offer of $500 over invoice accepted just last week on a G37x with those same packages. Invoice on mine is $38887 so expect invoice on yours to be around $2k or so under that.

i'd say make an offer of $37,500 or so and see if they go for it.

37500 is doable. I'll think about it some more and then give it a shot. I'd love to hear more thoughts if anyone has suggestions. Thanks again.

So i'm confused, oC - here you said you offered and were accepted on an 09, but in the other thread you said you were going to go to STL this weekend to look at the 08. Does that mean that if you don't like the 08, you keep your deal on the 09, or does that mean you have already decided on the deal for the 08? The reason I'm curious is because I am a lemming and will do exactly as you will do....NO. kidding. its because your situation is very similar to mine. I actually had convinced myself on the 09 Maxima, but now I'm back onto the infiniti. With the infiniti, i gain horsepower, looks, name brand, AWD, and it will probably be more fun to drive, but the max (09 with premium) has the heated steering wheel, and the a/c seats with basically the same engine! tough call. i need to sit in, and drive the infiniti to really compare, but the other problem is that the closest I dealers is 1 hour+ away, making showroom visits and dealer maintenance a pain. keep me posted on what you decide

nlens - You may call me Titan =)

We may as well be twins as I am in exactly the same situation as you. I first started with the 09 Maxima after researching but after finding the G35 I've not really looked back.

What I meant is I'm in talks with a dealer who has given me their lowest price on both an 08 and 09 G3Xx with Prem, Nav and Sport packages to compare and decide. If I decide after driving the 08 tomorrow that i want a little something more then I'll take him up on the $500 over invoice offer and if I decide the 09 wouldn't offer much more for the price difference then I'll go ahead and grab a nicely priced 08 with the same options.

I also am at least 2 hrs from any dealer so my situation is so close to yours its crazy. I'll give you my insight tomorrow afternoon/night after visiting an 08.

WOW - we do sound very similar. if you are as indecisive as me, we are screwed! i would not look back at the max either if the G had that A/c front seat. i never thought i'd like it, but its not air based....its just cooled. i was sitting there and the seat got cold. ahhhhh. nothing worse that hot leather seats in the summer and this would help solve this! so it had me sold. but with the max, i never liked the wood trim inside, and don't want the sport package to go with the other trim cause again, i want that a/c seat. but the max is a sweet car for the price in my opinion. i have never been a fan of the previous body styles, but i think they are slick in 09, and not surprisingly, its because they made it look a lot like the G.

i hear ya on the 08. my dealer i keep talking to on the phone insists that he has a bunch of 08 left. if he has my color, or can get it, this will be tough. I want to save some more money and use my income tax return in Feb to put more down....so i want to wait till feb. the 08 will be blown out of inventory by then, right? well, i asked the dealer if he would be willing to take a deposit now to hold an 08 till then when i'd have more money. shockingly, he said yes....so i plan on going down to drive the 07 when they get them, and also drive an 08 to compare. if I see very little difference, then i will probably go with the 08. if i love the 7 speed and can feel the extra power of the 07, then i'll probably wait a month or 2 past feb to save some more and see if i can wait it out till they begin offering an incentive. thats my plan.

keep me posted on how you do at the dealer tomorrow. i'll be home watching football.
