Removing Sticky Tape from Windshield

One of the strips of sticky tape from the temporary license plate on my back windshield has a tough residue that I can't seem to get off. Any suggestions?

WD-40 will work, that's what I would use. Goo gone will also work.

as a last resort varsol will do the trick. Careful working around rear defroster.

windex and a razor blade will take anything off!

just watch out for the rear defrosted.

If it is inside you should be carefull with the chemicals. You don't want to destroy your heat lines.

I second Goo-Gone. That stuff works wonders!

I love goo-gone, but they aught to make other products to complete the line.
How about "goo-gone gone" to get rid of the oily film it leaves behind or "smell-gone" to get rid of the citrus stink.

I love the stuff though... +1 on the goo-gone.

Try another piece of tape, like the blue painters tape to get rid of the residue. If that fails, then goo gone. The gel version is particularly effective.

you do not need to use goo gone, you are removing simple tape residue. I install auto glass and clean far worse **** than tape residue with windex and a razor blade.

Soapy water and a stainless steel pot scrubber.

Total cost, less than $3.

Will not damage the rear defroster, just be sure to use a sponge to apply plenty of soapy water. I am talking 5 parts soap to 1-2 parts water depending on the mess.

When I was removing crappy tint from my old NX hatch, the glue left behind was a disgusting mess.

The pot scrubber and soap made short work of the mess.

Apply dish soap to the area work in by hand and let stand. Then wipe with MF. Several years ago, I had to use clear packing tape to hold up a window in my wife's Max. After fixing the window, I had so much sticky residue from the tape. The dish soap worked wonders.
