Soapy water and a stainless steel pot scrubber.
Total cost, less than $3.
Will not damage the rear defroster, just be sure to use a sponge to apply plenty of soapy water. I am talking 5 parts soap to 1-2 parts water depending on the mess.
When I was removing crappy tint from my old NX hatch, the glue left behind was a disgusting mess.
The pot scrubber and soap made short work of the mess.
