To G or not to G, that is the question.

Quote: Done deal. I took delivery in Cherry Hill, NJ, last Friday and the drive home was great, the car has been refined a lot since I owned my '05. I'll post more of a comparison when I've had more seat time.

Hmmm.....I was about to say the STI is a boy racer econobox in a different league than a G sedan. Then you posted this picture. I had forgotten that Subaru moved the STI to a 4 door hatch design (amid much moaning from fans). The car must have a practical side along with the performance. I actually like the look of the hatch design better than the choppy look of the sedan.

As for "quality", the only one I've driven was a new (05/06 I believe) sedan. The things I didn't like were..... Exterior styling, like you I'm not a kid. Fit, I'm 6' and 220Lbs. It was a very tight fit. Rear seats were pretty much useless except as a package shelf. Interior, cheap, plasticky, noisy, looked and felt like the econobox it was derived from.

It looks like subaru has addressed the styling and they have no doubt improved the interior while adding some utility. I'm not sure they have improved the fit for big guys. But you don't look tiny in the picture so, it must fit OK.

Enjoy! There's certainly no denying the performance fun of Subaru's little rocket. Small + light + powerful + AWD = FUN!

Curious why you didn't like the Infiniti Nav system. We have an 08G35x and I love the Nav. We have another car with factory nav and I have a Garmin portable for my S2000. The Garmin is a great little unit but both factory systems are way better in most respects. The only "problem" with factory systems is that they still charge close to $2,000 for technology you can buy for $300 aftermarket.

One thing is annoying with the factory Navi. When you need the update cd/dvd then you are paying as much as some of the aftermarket gps cost you.

it never had that "boy racer" look, really. i think some of you are just too stuffy for your own damn good.

my 05 got more compliments from >40y.o. conservative crowd than any other.

the nisfiniti factory nav is worlds beyond the subaru's, but no matter: you can drop the alpine setup into the suby inside of 20 minutes.

My mom had both the '06 (traded in for '08) and '08 limited edition STI and I hate it. If a car is going to cost that much (I understand more HP and better handling) it should have better things on the inside. The Nav in her '08 sucks big donkey ***** and I would much rather drive my G. My first car was a subaru (it was a 90 legacy) and really dont notice any major difference in the interior. lol

Um, are you in the US? There is no "Limited Edition," '08 STI. And the '08 Wagon's interior is way better than the '05's, which in itself was night and day to your '90 legacy. Your snobbery is showing...

I do agree with you on the Subaru (Kenwood) Nav. I have so many options for aftermarket systems that will just slide into the double din slot, it's hard to choose one. Oh, and I can use them all with the car in motion.
