the only differences are cosmetic (front bumper, side skirts, high bolster front seats, paddle shiftes, and 18 inch rims). all the G sedans have the same drivetrain.

There are more than cosmetic differences. Sport-tuned suspension and Viscous Limited-Slip Differential (VLSD), and bigger brakes.

Along with VLSD and larger brakes--a real asset btw--the S has a a sport tuned suspension system (along with a firmer ride) and a staggered wheel set up with wider and lower profile rear wheels.

In an '07 the 6MT also gives you an extra gear. The '09 automatic will have 7 gears.

VLSD is important. On my non-Sport that does not have VLSD, with traction control off, it will peel out all through 1st gear.

3 more reasons to get a Sport

1. Sport seats, great if you're height/weight proportionate, adjustable!
2. Paddle shifters are much more fun and useful than the gearshift, and
3. Sport requires premium package, and those goodies just make everyday use of the car much better.

My understanding is that it's the same suspension, with a slightly shorter spring. There's nothing, other than that, to make the suspension "Sport Tuned".

Same engine, but there is a world of difference in handling. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who regrets getting the sport package. Finding those who regret NOT getting it is a different story .

The springs are actually the same (hence the same stance), the shocks are a little different. As far as the engine and transmission are concern they are identical. The only other thing that may make a difference in "performance" is the VSLD.
