Help-225/50/18 all around?

I purchased (4) 225/50/18 from a member and didn't even think to ask if they were the staggered fitment stupidity on my part. So I get to Discount Tire this morning to have them all put on and he notes the difference. He said the rears will be taller and that is not a good idea. They are in awesome condition and really need to use them. What issues will I have if I go with the same tire size all around? I have the S model G35, I'm assuming it comes with staggered tires for a reason. What to do?

You'll be fine. The 225/50/18 will be a whopping 2mm taller than the normal 245/45/18 normally on the rear.

I think the g35xS actually comes with this size all around.

Some one correct me if I'm wrong but haven't you just lost traction? You've shrunk the width on your two rear tires.

Are these just winter tires or something?

No, I'm in FLorida, these will be just for regular driving. So no, this is not a good idea?

It's 100% safe.

That said, given how much power the G35 has, it will easily break the 225 width tires loose if you disable traction control.

Personally, I would save a pair of them and use them again for the fronts. I'd get 245-45-18s for the rear.

Just my personal opinion

The 225 50 18's are too tall and narrow for the car (G35 xS). I have been planning to change them all to 245 45 18.

That said, the G35 sport has 225 50's in front and 245 45's in the rear. Discount Tire does not know what they are talking about. Enjoy the ride.

The lack of bulge in the rear will look funny. (vs. the front that'll bulge a bit).

That's about it.

Where did you buy the tires? Maybe they'll let you swap them out for the correct size. Heck, I'd even try blaming them for selling you the wrong size. Every tire place I've been to ALWAYS verifies what car the tires are going on and checks the correct size before selling me tires.

Thanks, guys. O.k. So I'm going to go with the 225/50/18 all the way around and when their done, I'll go back to the staggered look. Now I just have to make sure Discount Tire will install for me and not say its a safety hazard.

SilverG2007: I bought them off of a member here who plainly stated the size I just didn't pay attention. So this purchase was totally my fault.
