Another way is to replace yor wheels with a lighter forged set. You would also be surprised at weights of tires in the same size, but different manufacturers.
But as I said driving on the street your weight savings would probably be hardly noticeable.

Have fun with it.
Which begs the question...

Did the OP buy this car for the track? Because if he bought a G37 sedan for the track, he is an idiot. There are plenty of cars that are way faster, exciting, and cheaper to drive on the track than a G37 sedan.

It has no place in this discussion.

True guys, i just ignore name calling and the "why would you want to stuff"...the point of this thread is to open a discussion of weight savings.

I want a G37 sedan. Not an evo or sti or vette or civic with a v8, but a G37 Sedan. As a car guy and someone who has a hard time "leaving things alone", I figure I'd play a bit with the car, but not ruin it. The new 370Z is ~95lbs lighter than the last car and Nissan is jumping up and down about it. So...if I can save weight...I can be happy too

SO back to the thread, yea, wheels, exhaust...that's all stuff that doesn't ruin the car so I might be up for it. But that being said, i'm not going to run out and dump $$$ on wheels when I'll have good set of factory rims.

Maybe guys can list catback exhaust weights vs. stock if they know them?

Good luck with the weight reduction project. Let us know how it goes.

Actually, you should take it to the drag strip first and let us know how your trap times look stock vs. post diet.

I'd suggest you not doing that. From what I read, the fix-a-flat stuff can damage the TPMS.

I don't know exact weights, but I believe FI claims using their catback AND HFC's, you save around 40lbs.

Weight Reduction

Dropping a few pounds is always a good idea. Colin Chapman will be applauding from heaven. There are lithium-ion batteries made that will replace the lead-acid battery in your car and save 30 plus pounds. Be very careful of the fix-a-flat though. Remember your car has tire pressure monitors. If you put fix-a-flat in a wheel-tire with a TPMS, you will ruin the sending unit in the wheel and have to replace it. I don't know how much they cost, but I guarantee you they won't be cheap.

You also could get a Lighter flywheel and clutch option to save 20+ pounds, light weight crank pulley, and Lighter rims which would probably save another 30+ pounds and all of that is rotational mass, so you would defiantly feel the difference. Throw in come coilovers as well. as someone stated before exhaust will drop weight and test pipes will drop a ton.

gee35x already mentioned tires - toyos worked well for me.

q8y - it's still a skyline, but this is not gts-t, or gt-r... it's just a gt. the turbo made the skyline a performer - not saying because there is no turbo, it can't be fast, it helps, especially if you don't have displacement on your side...

mike s. - good luck with your mods!!!

Yes...thanks for all the ideas guys. Its funny...b/c I don't even have the car yet. I guess 328HP...should be enough for me....but who knows!

I guess I'd like to make several small subtle changes to make the car better in most ways.

Use the car without the spare. If you get a flat tire call Infiniti Roadside assitance...

Right, I think I'm narrowing it down to no spare/jack and light rims. Infiniti 18's are ~23lbs each vs. ~18lbs for some nice 5 spoke volks. 20lbs of rotational mass is huge I suspect.
