Question about offset and hub centricity (pics)

I recently put snow tires/wheels on my '08 G35XS and have a question about offset and hub centricity.

The winter wheels are BSA 17x7 with an offset of 40. I believe the 18x7.5 OEM wheels have an offset of 45. Should I be worried about this? Nothing seems to be rubbing.

The winter wheels have a hub diameter of around 66mm and the OEM wheels have a hub diameter of around 72mm. When bolted down, the winter wheels seem to be on center and there isn't any noticeable vibration at highway speeds. What's your opinion? Obviously, it's probably best to get rings/spacers, but can I get away without them? I may only keep these wheels through the winter and then get rid of them (I had them on my previous G for 3 years). Something seems a little rough at low speeds or around corners...it could just be the tread on the winter tires, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't my all-wheel drive having a problem due to the wheels being slightly off center (I know....slight chance). I didn't have this rough sound with the OEM 18" wheels.

I appreciate your input.

Sounds like you need some 73mm/66mm, 1mm hub centering rings.
I also needed them for my GT1's.

They're plastic and can't be more than like a buck or two.
Yes, you could live without them, but I wouldn't... install your wheels correctly.

The G35's hub bore is 66mm. OP stated that the winter wheels have a centerbore that's 66mm and the OEM wheels have a centerbore of around 72mm. Are you sure? Or should it be vice-versa?

You are correct...

The winter wheels have a hub diameter of around 72mm and the OEM wheels have a hub diameter of around 66mm.

Your change in offset is no problem whatsoever. You are correct your OEM offset is 45mm and going to 40mm will not create any problems, it means the wheel is pushed out 5mm more than stock.

As to your centerbores. Do as AesonVirus said and run centering rings. It will ensure your winter wheels are running on center. You can run without them but your are ensuring the wheel is exactly on center with them.

Like above... get the rings.

The wheel lugs are for holding the wheels against the rotor under horizontal loading/force.
The center bore of the wheel is what takes the vertical loading weight of the car on the axle hub.

w/o rings you are asking the lug bolts to take both forces w/o any load applied to the axle hub.

No very safe IMO.
