Has anyone tried changing the lenses on their ride with these lenses?

yes, and Matt at The Retrofit Source is a really cool guy.

If you swap the lenses, you need to mod the cutoff to take full advantage of its use. Read the DIY

Where is the DIY?! Is it worth it? So would we get the really cool bluish tint if we did this?

The purpose of the lens swap is to get a sharper cut off line. If you drive up to a wall, you'll see that the cut off line is rather soft and fuzzy in appearance. It will not change the color of the tint (only a bulb will do that).

It just a mod to look better than stock. The process is pretty involved and requires precision work.

The point is to get color at the cutoff so when people view your lights they are purple/blue/white, without using aftermarket high kelvin bulbs which sacrifice significant amounts of output. This is what you see coming at you

BTW, those lenses are for the 06+ g35 projectors, not for the 07+ sedan projectors which IIRC use a 3" lense. I haven't seen a DIY for those yet. Talk to IvoryGT about getting your 07+ headlights modded if you are truely interested.

Exactly. That pic shows a modded cutoff shield. If you don't mod the shield and only do a lens swap, you only get a sharper cutoff. You do get some color above the cutoff line, but the actual temperature of the light produced doesn't change.

Modding the shield involves bending the shield either away from or toward the bulb. Changing that distance produces the color above the cutoff line, but again, the basic color of the beam itself doesn't change (which is what I was trying to relay to the other poster).

right i kinda get it, but still doesn't work on our cars right and it's like a major mod, which i do not want to do myself.

It's not "major," but it does involve opening up the light and disassembling the projector. More than anything, it's time consuming.

IIRC, the STi lenses work, as do the replica ones that are 3". If you go to hidplanet.com and ask around or check the classifieds, I'm sure you can find a set for $100.00 or less. I don't know if it's a "drop in" type of install, meaning you can just swap the lenses and go. You may need to experiment and adjust the shield distance (like I was saying the the previous post) to obtain a sharp cutoff line or to get rid of a double cutoff line, so it may not be something you'd want to do just to get the blue flicker and sharp cutoff.

You can always ask IvoryGT in the marketplace to see if he's done it before. I'm sure he has, and he could tell you if shield spacing is necessary or not. If it's not, and you're comfortable opening up your headlights, then I'd say it could be worth the effort. If you have to fugg with the shield, or worse yet, make custom shields, I say **** it personally and it's not worth it. I tried making custom shields for my old lights, and you have to be PERFECT or every little abnormality is easily seen.
