OEM Front Lip Questions...

for those of you who have the OEM front lip i got a few questions for ya.

how hard was the install?
did you have to use some sort of tape or does it have to be screwed on?
also where did yall get it from and where is it the cheapest?

thanks!

i'm pretty sure it only uses 3M double sided tape...the install should be fairly easy...just clean the bumper really well and use a 3M adhesive promotor to wipe down the area that needs to be stickied...line it up with the bumper and slowly strip the 3M while it's fitted properly...should be a piece of cake

Actually you also have to drill ~10 holes plus the 3m tape, but it is pretty easy, many newbies to car mods have done this pretty easily, so if you know how to to use a drill you should be set in about 30-45mins tops

The install didn't look to bad to do (I had it done by a reputable body shop). It's better if you have 2 people to install it. One to drill the holes and one to hold the spoiler.

-apply templates
-drill holes
-put on spoiler (will pretty much hold itself up when ends snap into wheel wheel)
-align spoiler to marked line and remove backing from tape
-apply bottom screws/clips

total time 1 person: 1 hour (max)
difficulty level: 2/10

It's not hard to just slap it on there. However, if you are interested in getting it to match up w/ the lines on the template, it's a little difficult - especially w/ 1 person - because as you're trying to hold the lip in place, it's under tension and you're trying to pull the cover off the tape, while at the same time, trying to prevent it from sticking in the wrong place and also trying to prevent the thin rubber weather seal strip from folding over on itself.

If I wasn't worried about getting it aligned just right, it would've probably taken me 1/2 the time.

I took my time to make sure it was perfect. Took roughly 1.5 hours with 2 people. using the template, and taking time out to figure out how i was going to cut the ~1 inch holes in the bottom of the bumper.

So yea, ~15-20 min to align the templates just right
another 20 minutes to drill the holes (took me that long b/c i used a dremel to make the BIG holes)
then another 15 minutes to make sure it's aligned well, and the little weather stripping is perfect and not folded under.
then ~30 seconds to pull off the tape...

I just ordered a front lip and am expecting in a few days. Do you have to jack the car up to drill the holes?

Thanks

No, you don't have to, but it does give you a little more space to work with.
I put my front on jack stands..... takes 5 extra min but IMO makes it easier.

...you also have to crank the wheels back & forth to full lock to drill one hole in each wheel well.
