I guess I know that you can use it for music files, but does anyone use it for anything else? I suspect that playing music from it is not as nice as playing from an iPod (in terms of the music display, not the sound quality). Can you use it for pictures? Play video clips? Is is basically a waste?

Same here....and I've never used the CF slot, CD Changer or Hard Drive...only the Ipod integration. I think they should remove a few of those options..especially the CD Changer and give us something more useful in place of the savings....say rain sensitive wipers, tilt passenger mirror on reverse.....okay I'm off topic so I'll stop my rant.

I use several 2GB cards that I picked up on eBay for $2 - $3 each. Get the cheapest cards you can find, since access speed is not an issue when using CF for mp3's.

There is no limit on CF capacity, but there is a limit on number of songs that will be recognized. 512 tracks is the maximum that will be read in your G35 regardless of CF capacity, so getting a CF card that's larger than 2GB (can fit approximately 500 tracks) is pretty much useless.

but if you dont care about sitting there waiting to load the songs from your pc to the card, then sure, the playback time or quality is identical, i just dont have the patience.

does anyone know anything about the music hard drive and the cd drive in the car (NOT the cd changer) not being capable of "gapless" playback? I am noticing that any music i listen to on the infiniti music box and the single cd always has a gap in between songs -- this is particularly annoying when listening to live shows etc. any insight is appreciated, thanks!

I didn't have a CF card reader built on to my laptop so I got a CF to SD adapter (yes the SD card fits in the CF card). I've noticed also that the SD cards tend to be a little cheaper then CF cards. I really only did this because my laptop has a SD card reader built in, as opposed to a CF. Btw I got the adapter from amazon.
