I guess I know that you can use it for music files, but does anyone use it for anything else? I suspect that playing music from it is not as nice as playing from an iPod (in terms of the music display, not the sound quality). Can you use it for pictures? Play video clips? Is is basically a waste?

I use it for music and it is MUCH better than using the ipod as i have the 07 without ipod integration so using the CF allows me to see all the songs and such and use it from the steering wheel and the sound quality is awesome!

I use it for music only. The quality is amazing.

i've tried it with music, and it's fine, but my ipod will give me more options in terms of audio quality, including uncompressed audio, so... really no point for me.

I would have loved for the HD to be able to store transferred MP3s, but failing that, the CF card is the best option for music. I have about 5 or 6 CF cards I just rotate.

Is there a limit to what size CF card can be read. It makes the 9.3GB (which is kind of small for a Hard Drive) irrelevant since CF 16GB cards can be had for $99 from sandisk.com. Might be even cheaper elsewhere.

Same here....and I've never used the CF slot, CD Changer or Hard Drive...only the Ipod integration. I think they should remove a few of those options..especially the CD Changer and give us something more useful in place of the savings....say rain sensitive wipers, tilt passenger mirror on reverse.....okay I'm off topic so I'll stop my rant.

There is no limit on CF capacity, but there is a limit on number of songs that will be recognized. 512 tracks is the maximum that will be read in your G35 regardless of CF capacity, so getting a CF card that's larger than 2GB (can fit approximately 500 tracks) is pretty much useless.

I use several 2GB cards that I picked up on eBay for $2 - $3 each. Get the cheapest cards you can find, since access speed is not an issue when using CF for mp3's.

ya but the transfer speed makes a difference. i had those 2 $ ebay cards and it took several minutes to upload or delete a folder, i have some fuji max one for high quality pics....uploads like 100 songs in under a min.

but if you dont care about sitting there waiting to load the songs from your pc to the card, then sure, the playback time or quality is identical, i just dont have the patience.

does anyone know anything about the music hard drive and the cd drive in the car (NOT the cd changer) not being capable of "gapless" playback? I am noticing that any music i listen to on the infiniti music box and the single cd always has a gap in between songs -- this is particularly annoying when listening to live shows etc. any insight is appreciated, thanks!

I didn't have a CF card reader built on to my laptop so I got a CF to SD adapter (yes the SD card fits in the CF card). I've noticed also that the SD cards tend to be a little cheaper then CF cards. I really only did this because my laptop has a SD card reader built in, as opposed to a CF. Btw I got the adapter from amazon.
