WTF, first time I've had a noise issue like this. It started this morning while driving away from my house (after 5 minute warmup). A slow flapping or tapping noise, but only above 3000 rpms, it gets louder/faster with increasing revs (Did not sound like a fast ticking, normally associated with low oil in the valves, or other). The sound appeared to come from the direction of the driver footwell area. After 15 minutes it was suddenly gone.

I was praying it wouldn't stop, I was on my way to the dealer otherwise. But, of course it stopped. :S

28K miles, 38 degrees this morning.

 

there was tsb related to that where there is some noise which is rpm dependent im sure someone here knows exactly wat it was and post it, but any different sound from the engine is bad news as far as im concerened...
