1. as others have stated before, practicality of a 4 seater. That back seat has been a life saver hauling car parts back & forth to the shop to get installed
2. back in '07 when i bought the car, the G35 coupe had a more dated looking interior and i wanted the more modern/ sleek look
3. on that note, i like the modern exterior of the V36 sedans more than the G35 coupe exterior (granted the G35 coupe still has a modern looking style)
4. engine power of the VQ35HR is better than the old VQ35DE (and with less issues)

I went for looks, performance and practicality, didn't even consider a coupe.

That's not even close to true. Maybe on gen 1 or 2 sedan. Gen 3 hardly have any and the coupe had tons almost before released.

This is the first of 4 cars that I've had which was 4door. After having coupes for so long it gets annoying to stand in the rain while people pile into the car and other little things like that.

Like everybody else says, a back seat and doors simply comes in handy more often than not. Considering we are only slightly slower than the G37 performance wasn't a big issue.
The G37 is slower...

At first I did not like the G37 much. Also there was no AWD with the 2 door G.

Sedan more practical less of a cop magnet. If you drove a 2 door before. You know people wants to race with you most of the time. With the sedan it has been better.

sedan was lighter, more useful, and less expensive.

lol @ people talking about their parents... buy your own cars and you don't have to worry about that

  1. At the end of '06, the sedan was new but the coupe wasn't
  2. I'm lazy, so prefer four doors

+1; I bought the sedan for the X model. If I had two cars, I would have considered the coupe, but with only one car for every season, I felt I needed the AWD.

Less attention, especially from police.

I've always liked sedans... done up right and they'll look more G than any coupe can.

Cheaper insurance.

There are tons of coupe owners in this area that think they're hard because they drive a G coupe.

Just because you have parents complaining that doesn't mean they bought the car FYI. I purchased my vehicle with my own money, I make my own payments, I pay for my own insurance, gas, maintenance, etc. My parents just don't think it's practical, just like dropping in an audio setup, but they don't understand the enjoyment I get out of it. Good thing they don't know I spent almost 2 grand on just 2 amps. They would flip and faint, haha.

Only if it looks stock and depends on location.

Than it should be your decision not your parents.

If you live under your parents' house, still gotta live by their rules. I do mods, they just get disappointed since they think I should save my money or use it for something more practical.
