Definitely spring for the 07 if you can.
I've owned both.
My 04 was great, but the 2nd gen is a big improvement.

It is quick and they're a few good mods you could do.

 

07 is quicker. I wonder what you meant by modding it pretty heavy though. The original design was so well thought out it's close to perfect. Are you thinking of dropping in a twin turbo like what Terry did?

 

I dont know? What are some basic upgrades you can get for since its a diff engine then the others?

It says that intake is for the g37? Also can you use the Tein S-shocks or are those just coupe. I had all my mods layed out when I was positive I was doing coupe and then I fall in love with the sedan and have no idea lol
