G37X compared to my G35Xs

I had a change to drive a G37X all day yesterday while my car was in for service. I'm a Sales Rep and I put on about 60 miles on that car. My loaner was an 09 G37X with about 3700 miles, I own a G35Xswith 12000 miles.

Power wise from my seat of the pants experience both cars feels just as quick accelerating from a stop. The only place I felt the G37X had a very slight edge compared to my car was using kick-down in DS mode from 60MPH's. The G37X took off a little quicker than my car. The reaction time on the G37X was about 1 second quicker compared to my car before it took off. Although I baby my car and I'm sure my engine might still be a little tight and probably the ECU has adopted to my more relaxed driving style. I drive my G like a luxury car.

I really like the 7 speed gearbox, shifted nicely and smoothly and did not experience any gear hunting issues. The engine in the G37X also sounds better and sportier with a nice growl. Interior wise I was not thrilled with the heater *****. They looked really cheap. And the rest of the interior was the same as my G35Xs, with the occasional crack and creak noises from the washi trim.
Also I forgot to mention the loaner did not have the Bose system. For me for my taste in music the Bose system sounded better than the non Bose. Just for reference I mainly listen to talk (O&A, Sports), Classic Rock and I love Trance (Area).

The G37X is a great car, but so is my G35Xs. The G's just keep getting better every year. I have no plans to upgrade to an 09 but if was in the market for a G right now and I couldn't find an 08 in the color I wanted. I'd buy a G37 without any hesitation. Can't wait to see what's coming in the future.

Good to see a review by someone who's driven both cars.

Nice write up.

Good to see Infiniti is actually improving every year something. Hope next year or the year after they bring the direct injection in play. 350 hp sound really good with better fuel mileage.

Thanks guys. I was actually a little worried and excited at the same time when I saw my loaner was a G37X. My biggest fear was that I would hate getting my car back after driving the G37X. But that did not happen. Like I said if I was in the market for a G right now and I couldn't find an 08 with the options I wanted and my favorite color, Blue Slate for me, I'd go right to the G37. Can't wait to see what coming down the road.
