Car involved in a hit and run...will be without it for a while

Not really a rant, but I recently parked my car on a one way street on the left side of the road and a car, I guess, tried parking behind me and decided to knick the passenger side of my bumper and a small part of the quarter panel.

Of course the person drove off so I found it with a couple nice scratches. I filed a claim on my insurance since under Virginia's Uninsured Motorist law that is required with all insurance policies in VA, I'm only out $200 vs. my usual deductible of $500 (VA state law requires that all insurance policies protect its owners under an accident in which an uninsured motorist is at fault, normally if an uninsured driver hits you and is found at fault, you would pay nothing, in the event of a hit and run, it is assumed the person who hit you does not have insurance...but for some reason with hit and runs you still have to pay $200).

I dropped the car off Friday at Progressive and they had my rental car waiting for me....a 2008 Dodge Charger SXT. It has a 3.5L V6 with 250 HP, the car steers like a boat, feels like one, and acceleration is nonexistant...hard to believe they have a 2.7L V6 in the SE model. At least the interior is decent, which was surprising. I was in a 300C a few years ago and I remember the interior being incredibly cheap...I did some research and found out for 2008 Chrysler/Dodge redid their interiors in the 300C/Magnum/Charger so they actually have nice materials in it.

So I'll have that until the end of next week I assume. At which point I'll have the car until Saturday, then I'm letting my little brother borrow it for his senior prom. Since we have conflicting schedules, I won't have time to drop it off 2 hours at my Rent's house and he won't have much time to come up and get it. The only option we had was to have him drive up this upcoming Saturday and pick it up, then return it the following week on Sunday after his prom...so I'll be stuck for a week with his car...a 2008 Honda Civic EX.

On the plus side...at least I'll get good mileage for a week...and once I finally get my car back for good, I'll be extremely happy.

Ouch! Hopefully it all gets fixed right and looks good as new!

I feel your pain though, last October I parallel parked and went into a store. On my way out this SUPER nice guy in the pizza place i parked in front of came out and told me the lady in front of me had hit me, checked the damage, checked if anyone was looking then just parked and went to shop. I confronted the lady and she literally just took off. But I got her license plate and long story short, I sent her a letter a few months later with the number of the criminal case filed against her and she promptly sent me a check to cover the damages
