Where do you oil up your G?

Hey guys, bought my G a few months back certified pre owned and they changed the oil at the dealer before i took delivery, they say the distance is 3500 miles, but if it is a synthetic shouldnt it be more like 5k?? where do yall get your oil changed at? do you always go to the dealer or just the local Jiffy Lube? Dealer wants 45.50 for the 3500 mile oil change. coming up on the 3500 mark and need some opinions.

I buy my own oil and filters on line, then when I need to change it I go to a friends shop and use his rack. I change my oil, check my tire pressure, wipe off underneath my car, clean inside my wheels and I'm done in 30 minutes. I really dislike laying on my back on the garage floor and it would take 4 times longer....

I use Castrol dyno oil and either Mobil or Wix filters and change each every 3750. If you are using sythetics then you can go longer intervals, but do check the oil level at least once a week. I change it in my garage and inspect many other things while I'm under the car.

$45 is about what you are going to pay someone. Figure $10 for oil, $5 for filter, then they are going to charge you between .3 and .5 hours of labor @ ~$75 an hour.

Jack stands run about $20 - $25 bucks and ramps run around $35ish. Those are both good investments. You can use 2x4s to get the required clearance for your car to get on the ramps if you have a lowered G.

I do mine in my driveway with ramps. I'll change from dino to synthetic at my 3rd oil change.

Per the factory service manual, the oil change intervals are either 3750 or 7500 depending on your driving style. I don't know why the heck dealers feel the need to make up their own schedules.

Personally, I'm going with synthetic oil and 7500 mile intervals.

I go to the Nissan dealership near my house. I typically buy the Mobil synth and just show up with it. If you buy their synthentic oil they'll do the change fro about 50 bucks. If you show up with your own oil they'll do the work for about 10 bucks. It's pretty cheap and the dealership by my house is new and clean. It's actually nicer the then infiniti dealership across town and they charge me half the price. I'd do it myself but more and more I'm finding I don't like being underneath the car. Something about getting older I think.

Pennzoil platinum (Walmart) + Purolator PureOne filter (Amazon sells a 2pac for dirt cheap), 7K change intervals since switching to Synthetic at 10K. I don't have access to a lift (or a garage, for that matter), just bring it to a local mechanic and they charge me labor.

My local Infiniti dealership keeps sending me those oil-change postcards. $44.95 for synthetic and a "free" carwash.

Funny thing is, i get a similar postcard from a Nissan dealership, owned by the same company (i had a Nissan before) offering the same thing, for $24.95.

Just did mine last night, which took about 20 minutes.

Mobile 1 syn, fram filter from walmart. Manual says 5 1/8 qts, but I only needed 5 qts.

Bought an in cabin filter as well, took that apart only to find that my in cabin still looked brand new, so I now have a spare which I will check at 30k miles.

Bought 2 air filters on line for $3.99 each.
