The 335 Xi test drive was ok, nuthing exciitng , the 335 motor is smooth, push/pull paddles are not that initiative. exhaust is ok sounding, ride quality little brittle due to run flats. The interior was classy thought with black leather and metal trim
The G37 sport was exciting to drive and exhaust in the 09 XS is soo nice. I am sold on the G37xs. Handling wise , they both handle great and 7 speed in G37x is little nice over the 6 speed in the 335 from a sport mode and throttle blips perspective
G37x rear camera is way cool, I think 335 looks a little better but G37xs in black was sport too
Bottomline, the G37xs seats, ride, roominess, price, exhaust sound, downshift quality, transmission and paddles were better over the 335 . Handling is about the same . The 3 has a slightly better interior and better exterior sheet metal look
Gonna trade the 525 for G37Xs

Good choice! Especially since you have the 5 Series with the "Girl Engine" as it is known...It should be quite a shock in day-to-day driving with 328 hp at your disposal...I'm one who is not at all sold on the interior quality of BMW...you really need to compare it at a car show when the touch/feel is within minutes of each other - I'd give the overall nod to VW on higher end models with Audi (which is VW anyways) second and Infiniti third...The newer Infiniti interiors are really built to last also...BMW has a lot of cheap bits with some poor design when you really study it head to head...

Here are my questions to you, unless you've already decided and made your purchase
Did you test drive a 3 with the sport package?
BMW uses two different brand of RFT's on their wheels, Bridgestones (crap) or Michelins (much better). If the car you drove had the Bridgestones, it's understandable about the ride.
Again, did the 3 have the sport package? If not, the suspension isn't comparable to the G, but if it did, it will outhandle the G and simply "feel" better (stock for stock).
The 7 speed isn't all it's cracked up to be. There's a lot of posts on myg37 about the trans hunting for gears. The 3 series 6AT is a much better built transmission (IIRC, it's a ZF).
No rear view camera on the 3, but you can opt for park distance sensors which the G does not offer (I may be wrong).

I actually prefer the 3 seats over my G seats. I can't compare transmissions since I have the 5AT and the 3 has the 6MT. The ride quality and overall handling when my car was stock wasn't comparable-the 3 easily outhandled my car. You really should be able to tell the difference with minimal seat time. The rest I agree with.
One thing to remember is that if you're planning to mod the car, the 3 has great bang-for-buck products. A plug and play piggyback will add 60-80RWHP for about 600 bucks. 600 bucks won't even net you 5HP on the G. Something to think about in the end.
If you can afford the 3, and price isn't a concern, it's an easy choice (especially when you consider the 4 year maintenance program). Hell, lease the car and return it when you're done, especially since lease rates are about 0.9% on the 3's right now (or were).
Good luck on your decision
