Service at Nissan?

So thanks to the nice economic turndown, the Infiniti dealer next to my work closed down.

I payed for the maintenance package when I got my car, so I get free maintenance for 3 years. I could go out of my way to a dealer on my way to work... or I could drop it off at the Nissan dealer near my work.

Has anyone taken their Infiniti to a Nissan dealer for work or maintenance? I am assuming it is all the same, but I am wondering if they truly honor all the warranty and maintenance packages. Is there really any advantage to me taking my car to a slightly out of the way Infiniti dealership?

i always figured basic maintenance is basic maintenance -- a nissan tech could do it just as well as the infiniti tech -- you just may not get gourmet coffee in the waiting area at Nissan.

for more problematic service -- CEL's, strange mechanical failures... prolly better to hike over to infiniti (or have it towed to infiniti .. ugh)

Well I just got a thing in the mail, and all it seems that many of the same technicians from the Infiniti dealer are at the Nissan dealer now. Glad to see many could keep their jobs. Anyway, I never stick around long enough to "enjoy" the coffee. So having a place just around the corner from work is an advantage right now.

I take mine to the local Nissan dealer all the time. The nearest Infiniti dealer is 90 miles away, and the Nissan dealer advertises that they have dual-certified techs.

I go to Nissan, no difference at all as the infiniti dealer is next door and does the maintenance at Nissan anyways. I'm pretty much paying extra for going through a different door.

If I remember correctly, the first service is just an oil change. I would advice you to take it to infiniti just so you have some relationship with the service advisor. Just have a friendly conversation about cars in general so he/she remembers you if you ever have to bring in your car for warranty work. I think the infiniti oil change was like 50$ (may be different in your area) and nissan is 35$ over here.

Nissan maintenance

I had a check engine soon light on my '08 G35 Journey Sedan and took it to a Nissan dealership(Infiniti is an hour away and their service dept is closed on weekends...hope you're reading this Garcia Infiniti in Albuquerque!). The Nissan service manager told me they could handle oil changes, scheduled maintenance, etc but could not work on any warnings, problems, etc because it would void the warranty.

BTW, my code was a cooling system temp sensor issue. It eventually went off.

Nissan cannot do warranty work, but they can do regular maintenance.

I service my 06 G35 coupe at the Nissan dealer down the block from my place. I walk home after I drop the car off, thats how close it is!

The labor rate is a lot less for the same work.

I got a call back from them... The Nissan dealership cannot honor my Free Maintenance Package that I got when I purchased my car, because it has to be billed through Infiniti, not Nissan. That is probably the same reason they will not perform warranty work, because that also will have to be bill through Infiniti.
