Awd quality difference between FX35 and G35X (both 07s)
I know the FX weighs about 500lbs more 3700 vs the 4200 (rough estimate) FX35...
my question is - I know the G35 will be quicker and handle better - but what about snow?
Will the FX35 be MUCH better in the snow vs the G35X? Anyone drive both?
I am torn at which car to add.. both are roughly the same price.. just don't know what would be better for incliment weather if its that big of a difference or not.

My G has 17" Blizzak WS-50's for the winter weather and my car is much better in the snow than my wife's 06 Acura MDX. I haven't driven an FX but I have driven my share of 4WD's and AWD SUV's. The G on proper winter tires is better than any SUV I've driven (running all seasons).
As Igor said, clearance is the only issue. Any more than 4" of crud, you start to hear it hitting the belly of the G. Other than that, it's an absolute tank.
Two winters ago, we got hit with a storm that started just after the morning commute and by the time the plows started, the traffic was bumper to bumper and it caused horrible snow bound gridlock everywhere. I saw everything from SUVs to 4WD trucks getting stuck.
I cruised by everything and made it home with no issues at all.

I used to own an '05 fx35 and now own the 08 g35xS. The FX did handle slightly better in the snow but by not that much. I put Blizzaks on both cars though so any difference in the two would be minimized.
Both cars handle amazingly well in the snow. The FX because of it's weight and clearance inspired a little more confidence at higher speeds but the g35x performs extremely well also.

I did own an 07 G35X and it was remarkable in the snow when fitted with good winter tires as the others said.
I now own the 09 FX35 but have not driven in the snow with it yet. I expect it to be as good or maybe a bit better in deep snow then the AWD sedan because of the extra weight and ground clearance.
I got the FX for a bit more space and long trips and the seating position is a bit more adjustable. If those things are not necessary for you I would definitely get the G35X since it will be quicker, more agile, better on fuel and very comparable in winter conditions.
I am lovin my 09 FX though

Another safety consideration is that being up higher allows you to see over smaller/lower vehicles and increases your time to react to unforeseen situations, in any weather.
I love my G35X but sometimes I also miss being able to see whats going on further ahead in traffic.
I have owned a few SUVs in the past and my X handles just as well in the snowy weather.
