How do I stop that !&#*$ beeping!!!

About 25% of the time when I am leaving my car, it beeps as though it thinks I am leaving my keys in the car when I open the door. I always have my keys in my pocket. What the heck?

^+1 OR it would also beep if any of the doors are left partially open as the car attempts to lock.

I turn off the car, open the door and it beeps like crazy. I thought it might have been a glitch with mine, but the one time I had a loaner, it did the same thing. The guy at Infiniti said there is a sensor in the car which thinks the key is being left inside.

Does no one else experience this?

As long as I shut off my engine first I don't get any beep in my 07'. The only time I hear the beeping is if I open the door prior to shutting off the engine.

Well to get around the security system and start the car without your keys present for the auto starter they need to put a chip from another one of your keys inside the car somewhere. That is what the hacks did when my wife wanted the auto start in her Murano, of course without telling us, except that they needed to use our spare key to do it. I didn't figure it out until i saw where they chipped out some of the plastic around the ignition to install the chip from the spare key.

That is how they get around the security system. So your car has a spare key or chip in it somewhere and your car recognizes that when you are leaving.

I was pretty pi$$ed that they did it that way cause it gets around the whole extra security system and makes it easier for someone to hot wire it, but my wife couldn't live without it so we got it still. So beware of this in your ride.

I have figured it out (with your help). I am turning off and quickly opening the door. If I just pause for 1/2 a second, it doesn't do it.

Oh, and I would have never put that remote start in. The prior owner did and paid $500. I would have used that money for some mods.

Yes, this drove me crazy the first few days I had it. For some reason, Infiniti thinks there is a need to have the car beep at you when you turn off the engine and your door is open. I do both simultaneously and almost always get the beep. It is annoying to say the least but not much you can do about it.

The only thing that I have an issue with is that I've gotten so accustomed to ignoring it I end up missing the 'lights on' beep when I have to manually turn on my headlights. By they way - I hate that too. In PA we have to turn on our headlights when our windshield wipers are on. This should happen automatically (or you should have an option to turn it on automatically) so I end up having to remember to turn on my headlights manually. That's when I run into this issue.

It's definitely a different beep so that helps but it's always when it's raining since that's when I have to manually turn them on darnit!!

Glad you were able to identify the issue.

Jay

DigMy35x, the headlights will go off by itself in 5 minutes if the car's off- even if they're manually on.
