- apples to oranges. Put snow tires on both before you compare.

OP - it sounds like you have made up your mind. It's a tough decision but either way you can't go wrong. Do yourself a favor and get snow tires for the cold months. You won't regret it if you do but you may if you don't.
Cheers.

I would also add that the S has quicker steering. Definitely makes the driving experience that much more satisfying.

I would also add that driven at 9/10th, you will notice a significant difference in handling between the two. If you can live without AWD, I would go for the S in a heartbeat.

Cost of tires will be higher with S because of staggered sizing front to rear, esp if you put snow tires on stock rims. X will come with all season tires, S will come with summer tires.

Lol so much fighting.

I like RWD. But the X sure is nice. At the track our 08 was effortless. launch it and go, no wheel spin lol

Now, i do notice understeer in that vs my RWD.

it all depends on where you live, and if you can possibly live without a manual shifter. You should also note that the g35X stays in rear wheel mode until slippage is detected, and even that response can be retarded (but not completely turned off) by disabling the TCS.

I really hated losing the manual shifting when I got my g35X, but I literally had to deal with 45 degree (or higher) inclines this winter, covered in snow/slush. Thank GOD I had a 4wd "snow" mode.... even with awesome tires AND the g35's good weight distribution, 4wd really hlps a TON in the snow.

if I lived in a warmer climate, I'd rather have the manual shifting and (minimal) better gas mileage of the RWD...

S maybe a little faster on dry road. Every other case/season the X is the winner.

Thanks for all your replies

Settled on 07 S either black or silver, automatic. What type of prices do you think I should be seeing? If i spot one for 25,000 sticker how much do you think it's possible to talk that price down?

The deals are out there if you look around and be patient. I ended up getting my 07' fully loaded S with 46k for just under $23k. A bit high miles for the year but great price for the G considering how it was equipped if you ask me. Take your time and so a bit of searching and I think you will end up very happy. When it comes to talking them down just remember to be firm and don't be afraid to walk away if your not happy.

I paid 25K for 30k miles on a fully loaded S sedan w/ 4WAS, Navi, ICC, etc... Also had clear bra on it. I could have found one for a bit less, but I was picky on the color and condition.
