I have driven many cars that feel faster but were not faster. There are many things that make a car feel faster. Differences in spring rates for example will cause a car to squat in the back or possibly rise in the front. Front to back weight ratios, even the seats.

I know that, but its not the case here.

Why is it the case everywhere else except it is not the case here? Shoot even the color inside will make some cars 'feel' faster. Wash the car and it 'feels' faster. Spend money on some useless mod and it will often 'feel' faster. 'Feel' is subjective and nearly anything different between two cars will subject the driver to a different feel and that 'feeling' is often one having to do with velocity.

When ever I wash my car I KNOW IT GOES FASTER...LOL

cmon this thread is getting a little long in the tooth, pfarmer is correct "feel" is very subjective.

Both X and S are fast cars, isn't that enough?

But if you're asking the question because you cannot decide which model to purchase then the only way is just to take both out for a test drive and "FEEL" for yourself which is faster.

I realize the X and S are very similar when it comes to performance but my question is in regards to feel.
Would the S push you back in the seat harder during acceleration and feel faster on the butt dyno? So not really concerned with which is faster but rather does the S feel any faster due to the RWD configuration?
No - there is not enough difference in the acceleration rates for you to feel the difference, assuming both launch with full traction. Butt dyno will not report on .1 - .2 of a second...

When will you guys learn that your car goes faster only when you slap a new sticker on it?

Thanks for all the quick responses. Seems like the answer to my question is no, there is no real difference in feel between the two.

The only difference that I can think of is in the winter the S will allow you to do donuts in the snow and you should be able to squeal the tires from a dead stop.
The X cannot do those things, at least I can't mine to do them ;-)

Its practically the same damn car.
Enjoy either one you have.

Maybe a little bit, but figure that it would not be that one is all that faster than the other. From 0-60 you are speaking of maybe .2 seconds difference. Both will got above 150 and the quarter mile is not all that much different either. So it would possibly come down to seats, ride height, etc. simply faking you into thinking one is faster than the other. Many have stated that a softer seat makes one feel like they are accelerating faster, but then I have heard other state the reverse.

If you had two exact cars with the same performance levels, one with the performance of the 'S', the other with the performance of the 'X', both with the exact same seats, ride height, etc. I doubt one would be able to tell the difference. Take them both out for a ride. When I went to purchase it was between a sport coupe and a sport x. What killed it for the coupe is I like sun roofs and with a sun roof the coupe felt cramped inside even though I am not all that tall. Even though it had plenty of rear leg room my head was touching the rear window. As far as the sedan what sold me was AWD. This winter it proved to be a good choice. I have had reliability issues but can't fault how it 'feels'.

You may want to check the numbers on paper, there is a difference but about the same difference between what two exact same sports may have due to manufacturing differences.

I've decided to not fall victim to this ridiculous argument but I will say this.
There is not enough difference between the two cars for anyone to claim one is faster than the other... especially when being measured by a "butt dyno".
That's just ridiculous.

You may get more feel with a 6MT, but let's put them on the line and solidify your claims.
I'll buy you a beer afterwards for you to cry in to.

The 'butt dyno' is not very reliable, the main reason some see major improvements in how their car performs after various modifications when there is none to be had.

faster is faster, Physics alone will solidify my "claim". The X being ~150lbs heavier then the S alone means it will need a little more time or power to get moving at the same clip as the S.
After our race on the track I will have a few tenths of a second to enjoy my beer before you show up
