Cooler weather, issue on startup?
Hello everyone, I just bought my car about 3-4 months ago. And I think its because the weather has dropped a good 15 degrees the past couple of days that I notice when I first start up my car it seems to have a slight stumble but as soon as I back out and start driving its fine? I also noticed that the idle jumped up to about 1500 rpm and then it dropped sometimes. By the time I get to the first stop its idling fine and smooth, is this normal? Thanks.

When I first start mine in cooler weather, it goes up close to 2k, and takes a minute or two to warm up and drop to 1.2k (at which point I leave). Idle when warm is around 800 rpm.
VQs are known for having a slightly rough idle, so that's not surprising.
Does this match with what you're experiencing? If so, would call it normal.

Our 07 G35 seemed to rev a bit higher than it should (compared to other cars we've owned) at start up. It also shifted into reverse quite hard w/ a heavy thud (during cold start ups). Our new 09 G37 doesn't seem to exhibit this trait, much smoother shifting into reverse when cold and doesn't seem to rev as high initially upon cold start ups.
So to sum up, I believe your G is normal (assuming our 07 was also normal, lol )
