When looking for my car, I looked at a lot of '07 models. Every single one had lots of scratches all over the steering wheel, dash, and shift *****. The dealerships didn't even bother to replace or fix. My '08 looks just about perfect inside.

If my memory is correct the panel cost me about $29.68 + shipping. That is for the panel only, the switches I utilized from the existing panel since they weren't scratched.

The following thread shows the panel being "un-clipped" out of the door so that you can see how to remove it: https://g35driver.com/forums/v36-diy...l-removal.html

I called my dealer's service manager. He hates doing warranty work, but will if pressed. He is only going to replace the driver's side, which I think is going to look strange compared to the rest.

Did the $29.68 cover just one door's panel?

Correct, that was for my driver's side only. The pass side on my car is fine since that side is not used often.

I was successful with the switch panel. Sterring wheel will be next (right before my warranty expires).

My dealer agreed to do just the driver's side door panel, but they said that when they put in my VIN number, I would just get the same material as a replacement. They are working on figuring out how to get the newer material that doesn't scratch under the warranty, but it has been over a week with no luck. Anyone know a way out of this?

My car has close to 50K on it and it's 100% scratch free, inside and out.
It's not that easy to scratch. Certainly not enough to warrant warranty action.
I disagree. I dont have scratches I have flakes missing from around the volume control in places I dont rest my fingers or anything. Also in the little holder on the door by the window control, and I never put anything in there

My dealer would only replace where they see the peeling. so they replaced both my passenger and drivers door pull! So I will be getting my rear doors replaced with a little help from my fingernails, then they will replace it under warranty! tried to get them to do all 4 doors pulls under warranty, but they told me they could only repalae upon seeing the damage parts only. but they were cool about it. so will be getting the steering wheel trim replaced before my warranty expires! with a little help frm me! LOL

My dealer replaced all four door panels with the same material as the 2008's - no problem there and no scratches since. It is more rubberized. However, got the big fat no on replacing the steering wheel - that is not covered under warranty they said.
Also got a no on replacing the shift ****.

Had the steering wheel replaced under warranty a little while back. Yesterday, the dealer agreed to replace the door trim a well. The pain jut flakes off.

I looked at a few 2007's when I was shopping for mine, and all of the black interiors showed scratches on the door handles.

Mine has lots of scratches there too, so I think I'll try and look into a replacement. My shift **** also has tons of scratches on it from the previous owner. The metal appears to be scratched, so I'm assuming they wore a ring or something that did this.

Took the G in just before the 3 yr. 36K warranty ended. Dealer replaced the door handles for free, but wanted $50 for the steering wheel bezel.

There is a definite difference in the durability of the new vs. old.

Guess I fared better than some and not as well as others.
