Angry Back to the Dealer for a re-FIX

Two week ago I brought my car to get things fixed, they had my car for on week and didn't really know what was wrong...they have never seen this before, now it's back for the same issues....BACK AGAIN....I don't get it. did they not fix things?

same things happening again...

driver seat not working
side mirros not working
programmable buttons on door not working
missing menu's in the comfort & convien regaring: lift steering on exit and move seat back on exit.

all this was broken due to a faulty control for the seat.

well it's back all the same issue.

they say that they think it might be from a job done to replace a heater core (prior to me buying the car) that the dealership that did that work did a ****ty job. Wires were not connected properly etc.

So I don't know what to do...this is my first infiniti and it's leaving a sour taste in my mouth....I love the car....just pissed off, that I might have gotten someone else's problems.

I think they need to check the BCM.

What you are describing very well could be a pin fit issue however it can also be BCM related from what I see.

I have a 2008 XS that on three separate occasions had starting problems, that is it would not crank.

Below is a summary of time:

----------

In 3/18/2009 Given a loaner.

Out 3/20/2009

In 4/13/2009 IPDM taken from another car due to not be able to get a loaner.

Out 4/13/2009

Would not start 4/14/2009 and then started.

Would not start 6/04/2009

In 6/05/2009

BCM replaced

Out 6-17-2009

Would not start 6-18-2009 and then started

----------

I had another non-start since then but that one may have been self induced. If carried in your pocket the key buttons are reported to cause a starting problem if a particular sequence is pushed. The last time I did what a tech told me to do and that was to get out of the car and start completely over - car started.

I am not convinced it is fixed, especially due to the 6-18-2009 problem which occured directly in front of a shop where I had just purchased an OBD code reader to observe codes related to it (no codes generated at that time).

Whatever you do document this well and request all service documents including its prior history of repairs (ie heater repair). This may help in a lemon law case.

Thanks pfarmer but unfortunately I cannot get anything prior to me purchasing the car...they said they see that the heater core was done at a dealership but they don't know which one...how is that possible?
and I'm still waiting for the report to the things done before!!!!!

You would think they would know to check the BCM wouldn't you? I did mention that the first time and they brushed me off saying they check.

anyway it won't be until three day before they look at...it's Friday now and Monday they'll be able to look at it.

Note that a typical lemon law has a carry over provision from previous repairs. If there is a history that can be tied to your history then the carry over adds to yours for lemon law purposes (with stipulations such as time). To me it sounds like they are playing you as it should be fairly easy for location of warranty repairs to be known although since dealers are independant maybe that location needs to be ascertained from Corporate.

I would look up the lemon law in your state and the follow the remedies and procedures contained within.

If the dealer wants to play games afterwards then make sure they know that you are pursueing this as a lemon law case (as long as you have cause). A BCM is an expensive item for them but so is buying your car back, especially since a good deal of the depreciation has already occured due to it being second hand.

Not sure a lemon law works here in Canada.... also they're telling me that a dealer did shoddy work and that's why I'm having these issues and that they're just fixing someone else's mistakes.... if that is true I cannot blame them (current dealer).
The dealership is not giving me a hassle, I'm just pissed that I may have purchased someone else's problems.

In Ontario it would be Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitatration Plan, short for Canadian Lemon Law, or as close as it gets.

It never is, that is why you want documentation for everything possible. Also the remedies are something you really want to make sure you want.

it is only the second time it's in the shop...I can't claim LEMON for that....I will see if they fix this right this time...if it is true that the previous dealer messed the wiring up while installing a heater core replacement...I will mention it to them to pretend they're re-installing the heater core and follow the wiring that could mess up...LOL

I'll see how it goes.

Monday I should get some sort of answer near the end of the day...they'll look at it then. Buy Tuesday I SHOULD know what's up with the car.

This is the reason for documentation from the previous owner (which maybe you could actually figure out and contact directly.

In many of the U.S. lemon laws your two times could add to his one time (if of course he did take it in) and you have your typical three times in the shop for the issue (with certain limitations).

I am not sure of the Infiniti core, on my other car it is recommended that if you remove the dash for any reason you replace the heater core since you already spent the majority of the shop time for a heater core replacement job.

Maybe it is similar on the Infiniti which means that there are a lot of possibilities when it comes to wiring issues.

Might be hard to track down previous owner since I bought it used at a Nissan Dealership...so not to sure how to go about this.

My infiniti dealer told me when they looked up the VIN number it showed a heater core job done under warranty...but they dont' know what dealer it was done from (find that hard to believe) they only know that a dealership did the work.

So I called another infiniti dealer and gave them my VIN number and asked if they can look up if anything was done under warranty...and they found only one thing...a passenger airbag sensor. Nothing else. How is this possible?

I will have to ask the dealership where I have taken if this is possible.

Well it's now a full week and still no car...they're still trying to find the problem.
They told me they can fix the part that is not making the seat work but its not fixing the problem...I told them I want this fixed properly and how ever long it takes it takes.

Thanks baileyt35, I hope that its not too much longer.
Finally got the car I always wanted, had it for 4 months, and for a total of 2 weeks been driving a rental!!!!!!!!
I don't care how long it takes, as long as they fix it right.

^ well... on the bright side... you can take your frustration out on the rental.

I gotta say you got quite the problems there, but I'm sure they'll get all that sorted out and it'll be good like new.
