I installed a aftermarket backup camera that works exactly like the factory version. I used basically the same equipment from this thread below
https://g35driver.com/forums/v36-aud...-location.html

You need a camera of your choosing. $80- $100

Video switcher. Mine is from AVelectronics (my version has a remote to switch over to AUX and display video if needed) $300+

Chrome trunk finisher with a factory camera location(contact 180customs they will even paint it to match your car) $65

The video module is plug-n-play which means I didn't cut or modify any of the wiring harnesses. $200 - $300 professionally installed and FREE if you can do it yourself.

Thanks for responding to the thread rpm&my_G35. I just purchased an 07 x that has the premium pkg without the camera. I live in FL so, along with tough rear visibility while backing up, my dark tint really exaggerates the issue.

Finally a solution!

Navigation without backup camera

I got mine as such a good deal, which is why i didn't care much to look for others with navi/back camera. Although it a great connivence.
There selling a sand blue g35s 08 fully loaded with everything with 22k on for 28.
You can prob get it cheaper w/o that package though
Just a note. I have Navigation without a backup camera on my 07 x. ...unless you are saying if you have a backup camera you will have navigation? That may be true.

For the 2007 Infiniti G35 models the backup camera only comes with cars with Technology Package.

For 2008-2009, the backup camera comes with navigation package. For all other model years, I believe the backup camera comes standard or you need premium package. Not sure with the new models though.

I wonder if the the G sedan is pre-wired for backup camera. On my wife's Murano, it came pre-wired, so I basically bought an 2007 Nissan Armada backup cam module and an 2010 Nissan Altima backup camera on ebay and had everything interconnected. And when putting the car in reverse it worked off the bat. Everything was basically plug and play, other than needed to splice the camera wires.

I have yet to hear that. I hope that is the case. My windows are ridiculously dark. Looks cool but it's very hard to see out of.

If I can buy the "wing(?)" with the camera and run wires, I could do that. Much more and I'm not sure. ...just need more information.
I don't think it's that simple. You also have to figure out how to get the navigation screen to change to the backup camera once you're in reverse. I suspect you're going to need some reprogramming of the BCM or some other computer system for that.

My car has the backup camera (2007 Infiniti G35x with prem, nav, and tech) and it required a special BCM just for the technology package.

I bought a 2007 sedan with the nav package without the backup camera and decided to put one on. It's been a project but it'll "look factory" when I get it done. I bought a Navics controller and a OEM camera. I modified the camers connectors to work and bought a used finisher to put it in. I then discovered there were no guide lines from that camera. I found the OEM generates the lines from the controller which also takes a steering sensor in the steering column that moves the lines when you turn the wheel. Not wanting to go that far, I decided to get an aftermarket camera, with the lines for distance, that looked like the OEM and made a mount for it. I am very happy with this installation and the cost of it.(Controller $199, Camera $14, Finisher $75.) No one can tell it's not factory.

That looks great.

Would you mind letting us know where/what parts you got so that if we want to do this we can follow your lead?

Obviously it can be done, with a bit of hacking. You'll void your warranty though. You're going to have to get the screen to engage the video when the car is in motion, which would require some sort of hacking.

The guy said that it would cost $700 including install to do this...not worth it at all IMO, plus it isn't stock and you're hacking the computer system in your vehicle. Might as well get an aftermarket camera and a separate screen for $100.

Plus, the lines look off compared to stock...don't know why the lines are slanted. In my stock rearview camera, the lines are straight and perpendicular. Only when you turn the wheel the yellow lines become slanted. It may be the camera design and the focal length, etc...but the stock does definitely look better, IMO. With the angle with the lines in the aftermarket one, it looks like your lines are angling into the ground, not alongside it like in stock.

Look here:

You can see the slant lines being off in the aftermarket one.

I don't know if it helps but I can tell you that the stock camera is wired to a camera control unit that is located on the passenger side of the trunk. That in turn is wired into the main control unit for the AV system. It is my guess that the camera control unit is the device that sends the signal to go to video when the car is in reverse. You would have to add one of those as well as the camera. My control unit was bad and I picked up a used one on Ebay for $140 but I had a factory camera already.
