I had my heart set on a 2007 G35s
+1 Bought mine in Nov. '06, and have only taken it in for TSBs, and a failed TPM (that happened twice, although can't say it bothered me).
I have a 2007 G35S 5AT...
got it new on 12/06/2006. It now has 14,700 miles on it. I have had virtually no reliability issues.
In the almost 3 years of ownership, here is a list of things I've done (had done) to it:
+ Oil and filter changed three times a year at dealer ($39 each).
+ In-cabin microfilter ($11 from Pep Boys, 15 minutes effort)
+ Gas cap tether fixed by dealer (because I accidentally busted it) ($0).
+ New tire because I drove over a roofing nail ($220, my fault)
+ Sunroof side guards repaired as per TSB ($0, extra 10 minutes during an oil change).
+ New key fobs issued under warranty due to interference issue with Blackberry devices ($0).
I can honestly say, this car has been incredibly trouble-free. Of the six items above, the first two are routine maintenance, the second two were completely my fault, and the last two were minor issues easily fixed by the dealer at zero cost.
Finally, the car has no squeaks, no rattles, and the interior and exterior look showroom new.

I've had my '07 G35S for 23 months. The original owner bought dealer premium service and a 20% depreciation hit for his 14 months of ownership. A good deal for me. My experience has been like the others, the TSBs are no big deal - don't confuse lower reliability scores with cars being unreliable, OK?
By now, you should be able to find an '09 that someone else has taken a 20% hit on...

I have had no problems with my 07 G35S Sedan with all wheel steering. As a matter of fact it has been extremely good to me. I live in Wash D.C. area and traffic is horrible. I have had no issues and I have taken it to Maine and back about 2000 miles with travel in Maine, what a comfortable GT car to drive in. Mine is loaded and I would sugget that, the extras really make a difference. Mine has the AWS steer option, not sure if it makes a difference, I know the suspension in tighter on mine than a regular G35S. I handles superbly and the brakes are phenominal. The gas mileage is fair in the city about 17-19 and the highway is excellent about 24-26. Also mine has 306hp and the G37S has 328?hp,now keep in mind the G37 weighs almost 200lbs more, so depending on which magazine you read the G35s is faster just a little, now the G37 has a seven speed gearbox, which may improve gas mileage you may need to ask someone who has one. I also use my "flappy paddle" gearbox a lot on country roads it really keeps you engaged and a lot of fun. You may opt for a six speed, but boy do I like the Auto. The rear view camera is awesome, the fast key, slide away seat and memory steering wheel are great. The sound system is fabulous, just a great car. I was one of the first the get a G35S in my area, I ordered it specific from Japan, garnet ember with black leather (white stitching), rear spoiler. It is the perfect car if you live in a warmer climate. I does have an LSD which you can feel working on tight bends, esp if you get a little "racy" with it. I did get a two year maintenance plan with it, otherwise at 2 years you may end up spending about 6-7 hundred dollars. I also received from infiniti (and this may be something you may negotiate, if buying new) free oil changes, inspections, car washes for the life of the car and two year service agreement. ALso only use synthetic in my car.
I also added myself, stillen exhaust and intake really makes the engine come to life gives a much better sound! If you like it quiet do not buy the exhaust!
Mine has almost thirty thousand miles on it.
Hope that helps.

Biggest problem I can see with these rating are especially with Infiniti compare to others is Infiniti do have a shorter cycle(4 years) vs others. Also the mid cycle changes are big. Hack some company does less changes in 4 years than Infiniti does with mid cycle year to year.(see g35 to g37, among a load of small things there are 2 changes bigger engine and 7 speed tranny). Even that most " problems" Infiniti has/had is some small little things what's been taken care of at the next scheduled services.
I hate to bring up 335 but look at them. Fuel pump is one of the issue. After 3 years they still have the same issue. That's something what can upset owners really quick. Hack my friend is turning his in(end of lease). This was his 4th BMW and he said it is going to be the last. He is going with the new Audi line.

My '07G35S6MT is a late build '07, and I've had no problems other than the slave cylinder issue (6MT), which I took care of. I agree with those who state that the advantage of the '08 is that the minor '07 issues were corrected. Other than that, the cars are the same, and the '07 will, of course, cost you less.
oh yeah... forgot about the gas tank tether. Haven't fixed that though. It's not worth a trip to the dealer.
Wow great responses. I came very close to buying a '07 LP/Graphite 6MT over the weekend. Somebody else closed a deal on it before I did. But Im patient and will wait for the right car at the right price.
For me its really a toss up between the 6MT and the 5sp. As I see it there are advantages to both. I really like blue slate but I wonder how its going to look in 5yrs.
Based on everything Ive heard Im primarily looking at 07's to save a little money..but I wont pass up on a good deal on a '08.

, and I have a crap load of mods, which all helped wake the car up "MORE". and it's still trouble free! Don't belive everthing u read! LOL. Hope u get a new ride soon. Enjoy!
